Question about 2000 Volkswagen Beetle
I have a 2001 beetle. How do I check the transmision fluid? Its an automatic. Thanks!
This page explains how to change the transmission fluid but about half way down the page it tells how to check for the proper amount of fluid:
There isn't a transmission dipstick for this car.

If I am not mistaken it's the same as checking the fluid in a manual transmission you need to make sure that the car is level then you will need a T17 hex head bit to remove the fill plug that is located in the front of the transmission on the driver side. once you have that plug out take your pinky finger and stick it in and if you can fill the fluid then your good if not you need to add some until it comes out put the plug back in and your good
