I have the same problem. I replaced the input and output speed sensors as well as the transmission shift solenoid. Still wont shift out of 1st and speedometer still wont work but tack does. Any Suggestions?
Had the same problem. mine was the input/output speed sensors on the trans speedometer was going wacky and trans worked at first then wouldn't shift out of first try these first before the solenoid very inexpensive and it did the job for me. you can utube for more info and easy to replace. I found this posted on other cars too

check your transmission solenoids see if one went bad also check your vehicle speed sensor if its messed up sending wrong signals

Lets all get together and form a class action law suit. This should be a recall. but no body has been killed yet.Our tax dollars get to bail them out so they on keep making defective products.I wounder would they except defective money for there cars.

two issues here. this may be a low fluid issue. i would check the level of the fluid first. the next issue could be a blown shift solenoid. these are located inside of the transmission pan.also, check the filter as well.(transmission filter could be clogged)

Hi,
Here is some possible reasons why your transmission is having those problems .
* The gear shift linkage is binding
* There is an internal problem in the transmission
* The throttle cable is broken or disconnected
* The vacuum modulator on the transmission is faulty or the vacuum line is damaged
* The electronic transmission control circuit may be faulty

If it happened right after they changed the radiator, did they add transmission fluid? If they did, check your owners manual, or call a dealership, to find out EXACTLY what kind of fluid you need. It may be on a sticker under your hood also. It probably needs ATF+3 or ATF+4. I don't give a rats *** what anyone else says, use them, and them ONLY. If the shop put in something that is supposed to be compatible, then you need to drain the fluid, refill it, run it a little, in rev and first, like 10 feet each direction. Drain the fluid AGAIN, and refill. My Stratus and others (probably same tranny as yours) needs ATF+3 or +4, they are REALLY picky about this. Anything else will mess it up. I have not used MOPAR brand, I have used off brands, like from Wally World, and they are fine. They just need to be EXACTLY the right fluid. Change the filter if it hasn't been done lately too.
