How about wires and plugs. Wires build up resistance over time. High
resistance will keep you from having a god strong spark when the mixture
is rich on cold starts and make it hard to start( even poss flooding)
under hard accelleration it will cause it to miss.

    Exact quote

"3) Verified fuel pressure at the fuel filter with a pressure gauge.

(Between 33 and 40 psi all the time)"

"I have an 89 Accord. It has developed a stutter problem. The first day it
happened it wouldn't start at all. Now it is hard to start. When it starts
it may miss or stutter a little. Under load it will stall out (ie put it in
gear and give it gas). I don't see any codes on the computer.

    Things I have done:
    1) Replaced the fuel filter
    2) Replaced the dist cap and rotor
    3) Verified fuel pressure at the fuel filter with a pressure gauge.
(Between 33 and 40 psi all the time)
    4) Tested the fuel pressure regulator.

Anyone have any ideas? I though it might be a fuel problem but the pressure
is good up to the filter. I don't see any computer codes. Does the LED
only flash for a problem? Mine never comes on. Any help would be
appreciated. I dread taking this to the dealer.

    Thanks, Frank"

Why does my car not start?

You must find out if all the power from the distributor is getting to the plugs & the proper fuel PSI is being INJECTED into the motor (are the injectors INJECTING the proper psi at the right time or are the PLUGS FIRING properly? Poss? cam/ crank sensor, Not a steady Honda man but start w/ the basics. You got a reliable one there. check Fuel PSI, Air. Gas PSI, Spark & codes usually reff to electronic problems. My Honda accord 2003 has trouble starting first of the day. Starts fine for the rest of the day, what could this be?

One thing that happens on older Hondas is that the fuel pressure bleeds off when they sit overnight. The fuel pump puts out 40 psi, and the system is supposed hold that pressure when the car is off. The check valve is weak. Then you try to start it and with no fuel pressure it takes awhile to start, and may run rough for a few seconds. To see if this is the cause, on your first start of the day, turn the key on but don't try to start it. When all the warning lights are on. The fuel pump will run for 2 seconds, then turn off. If it is quiet enough, you might hear it, or the main relay clicking off after 2 seconds. Cycle the key on for 2 seconds and then off, do this 5-6 times. Then try to start it. If it starts right up, you know the problem. Most people just accept this, because the check valve is part of the fuel pump, and this isn't cheap.

How the spark plugs looks like? Are them black?

Cranks won't start

First you must check to see if engine is mechanical sound by performing a compression test. remove the spark plugs install a compression gauge in the spark plug hole and crank engine about 4 cycles compare readings to all cylinders reading should be around 125-150 psi readings in the 50 psi range possible jumped or broken timing belt. If engine is mechanically sound test for spark at the spark plugs use a spark plug laid against valve cover and have some one crank it over look for the spark to jump the gap. A no spark problem is internal in the distributor.

I have a 89 honda accord it turn off while it was running and it wont cranck back up i checked the spark plug wires and all of them have fire i also checked the fuel line and it has fuel and all the...

Using starting fluid eliminates the fuel system for the most part.
So that means it does not have enough spark at the plugs, or not enough compression.
You may need to go back and recheck all three components.

Try testing the relays under the hood. I had a 89 hatchback and it done the same thing. I replaced a relay I think it may be for the fuel and it worked fine.
