I have a 98 camry conquest and the rear alriel does not work. Someone told me to open it up and clean the mast as usually is the case. The problem is I do not know how. Can someone guide me please? Also how do I check if the motor is working?

page 14 of your owners manual shows how to lock unlock the child proof setup on door -----open door and by latch will see the the lock move to unlock position ! CAUTION LOCKING WITH REAR DOOR CHILDPROTECTORS Turn the lock knob to the "LOCK" position as shown on the label. This feature allows you to lock a rear door so it can be opened from the outside only, not from inside. We recommend using this feature.... the link is a copy of your owners manual 1996 Toyota Camry Owners Manual
First of all your going to need a bleeder wrench to open the bleeder valves located on your brake calipers correctly without crushing or damaging the nipple. First make sure the brake fluid is at the max capacity in the master cylinder. Then have someone pump the brakes several times and keep pressure of them whie you loosen first the Right Rear, then Left Front then Left Rear then right front. As you move from wheel to wheel don't forget to tighten the wheel your currently working on first. Keep doing this sequence until the brake fluid is coming out clean and with no air bubbles. Don't forget to fill the master cylinder bake to max full. You may have to pump your brakes until firm before driving just to be on the safe side.
adjust your mirror to center with your hand manually and try the switch again. if it still dosn't work switch to the other side mirror and see if the other side goes up/down. if it does then replace the side that's not going up and down....you have to replace the whole assembly. can't just replace motor.
