Question about 1998 GMC Jimmy
My jimmy will start some times and sometimes will not. The fuel pressure stays the same 54psi when running and if it is running sometimes it will die and the pressure goes up to 58-60psi. About 62psi when trying to start it. I believe something is stopping the fuel from getting to the spider, . Is this what happens when the reg. goes bad? It runs great when it runs. When it won't start I can throw gas into the butteryfly and it will start right up and then stall when the gas is gone. The jimmy is a 94 with the spider W code I had it running for 20 min shut it off then started again run for 20 min then shut it off and then it would not start. Then when you do get it to run for about a min then hesitate fuel pressure goes from 54 to about 62 and stalls then will not start again. Thanks Brian Steel5217@aol.com
Nothing wrong with the regulator. That is how it is supposed to work, it sounds normal.
I guess you will have to get to the spider to see what is wrong. Fuel delivery to the pot seems normal. Could be something to do with injector circuit, IDK. Sorry can't help more.

Sounds more like the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). When the Catalytic Converter goes, usually will get other symptoms like lack of power, bad sulphur smell, & a lot of heat coming from under the truck and depending on where it's located, hot floorboards. If you go to a place like Autozone and get a free diagnostic test, the codes would give you a better idea where the problem lies. Best of luck.

SOURCE: 2000 GMC Jimmy, starts up
you say fuel pressure is good, but what is it? what is the fuel pressure when it stalls out? Spec is 60-66 psi and it wont run if its 55 psi. the fuel pump relay should be good if the pump runs. Make sure the ground for the pump is good , G402 should be on left frame rail. you may have had it off to replace the pump? maybe? it may be time to stop guessing and have a repair shop diagnose it for you. You sure have replaced a lot of good parts.
