It works off the speed sensor on the tranny. The information goes thru the computer from the speed sensor and then controls the throttle. Hitting the brakes just cuts (shut) the speed control (it turns it off) The brakes have no control

The the cruise control switch on my 2001 honda civic works because i tested it, but the cruise control does not work

Check brake pedal switch which kicks out of cruise when you hit the brakes. These jump out of place easily so check that it is depressed when pedal is released (up).

I relaced the distributor on my 1998 Honda Civic EX 1.6 L, Manual transmission, A/C, cruise. I have heard tht there is a connector tht has to be jumped across in ordre to set the timing. Is that correct?...

At the end of the dash on the passenger side you will find a 2 wire connector that needs to be jumped to set the timing. Service check connector on Civic and CR-V uses a Brown wire and a Black wire. Connect the 2 terminals together and make your timing adjustment.......and don't forget to remove the jumper when you are finished.

Cruise control on 1990 honda civic green lite comes on but will not engage

Check the speed sensor either at the transmission or at the inside of the wheel. Sometimes the speed sensor gets damaged and you have problems with the cruise control.

Brake lights on 2000 Civic EX w/ cruise control do not work when brake pedal is pressed. I had the same problem 2 years ago and the brake light switch was replaced. Where do I locate the brake light...

The break lite switch is located behind the break pedal and it probably doesn't replaced it is probably just stuck. Its fairly easy to get to .
