1993 Subaru impreza wagon cranking but will not start not getting fuel to the engine

Could be all sorts of things. If the timing belts have slipped, the engine will usually not start or run really rough. Could be the crank angle sensor (under the alternator, just above the main pulley).

If the belt has slipped, you can check by pulling the cam belt covers off. Usually its the LHS side belt that's jumped. The hydraulic tensioner sometimes works loose and detensions the belt. Rotate the engine till to top dead center on the pulley, and see if the cam pulleys are at the timing marks. If the belt has slipped, you WILL have bent valves.

Timing belt back on 2001 impreza subaru

Look on www.chiltondiy.com or just google chilton repair manuals and I'm sure you can find the diagram. You may have to pay to see it, but it'll be there. If you have the 2.5L motor, I hope you didn't try to start the car after the belt broke. This can bend the valve guides and pretty much ruin the motor. 2.2L, no worries.

When does a 1998 Subaru Impreza with 60,000 miles need new timing belt?

Non-California vehicles: replace every 60,000 miles

Otherwise, it is just to be inspected at 60,000 and then again at 90-95,000 miles.

THe engine will not fire until the ECU detects the engine is turning over at the correct speed. If it is lower then the ignition will not come into play and hence no starting. Get the output of the alternator checked but first make sure your belt on the alternator is tight enough. It should have about half an inch play either way. Anymore than this and the belt can slip and the alternator will not work properly and over time your battery will go flat. Hope this helps.
