The delaer here will not accept to check the car because it is old.

I went to a transmission specialist and he gave me the codes I quoted.

The O/D light is flashing all the time.

    Thanks for trying to help.

Dear friend, I live in Venezuela-South America not in the USA. In here it is a different thing. I asure you that I went to a Ford dealer here in Caracas and it will not take my car not even for a revision due to that a 1998 is an old car here.

I can assure you that I went to a Ford dealer here in Caracas-Venezuela. In here a car from 1998 is old. In the USA maybe it is not but in here it is so.

The people from who I got the trans is trying to help and sent me to the trans especialist I went to. This is the specialist from which I got the codes. He will try to tell me what is wrong with the car next week when he sees it again. If you can speak spanish tell me and I will find the phone number of the Ford dealer here. Thanks.

Dealers are very rude and they will all ways charge you more money then needed. I got codes for my car from and personal owner (small business) they did a check engain scan and the codes came up and they were very nice after I had asked if they would please write down the meanings of the codes, When they did that there were some that they did not know but the parts store like schuck's will scan for free and again they will also write down what part you will need for the code and they should also know about those other codes as well. I do live in Vancouver, Wa and I'm not sure where you are located but the people that are helping you should like they really don"t want to help. Rude people every where.

I would say that the 1 gear and odo is out. Transition may need replaced but first you have codes great, shucks automotive will place a reader to your codes and tell you for free what it is, You may be able to call and tell the codes but I would do that step, The only ones that are going to have the answers to the codes are dealers, auto shops and parts stores. Part stores are free. If you don't have odo placed on the dash board then push the odo butten and it should say odo off then when the car is shut off it should go back to the way it should when you start the car again, and odo should not be showing because it is always on . In stead of trying to go to a auto mechanic I would place phone calls most of them are very nice and information is very helpful, The ford store is very happy to give you any info you need.

Error codes PO600 and P1747

P1747 CAN-Bus Monitoring
P0600 Serial Communication Link
These codes indicate a communications failure between the transmission control unit and ABS/traction system. These modules share information which allow them to operate properly. It is likely that one of the modules has an internal fault.
With these generic codes it is not possible to determine the exact nature of the issue. Your best bet is going to be a dealer diagnosis using their sophisticated equipment so that the root cause can be determined and eliminate any guess work. The p codes are too generic in this case, unfortunately.

1st.. check fuse for clutch solenoid/relay. 2nd... replace clutch solenoid/relay. 3rd... check for damaged wiring to trransmission or connector to transmission. If all these are correct, see your Ford Dealer.

Codes p1747 and p0500

The 500 code is vehicle speed sensor, the other is spooky BUS system failure ECM?EGS controller. The 500 is probably your shift problem. Hopefully the other is a ghost.Seems you should be able to manually shift and get low gear

The flushing could make it worse

I never flush a trans,could put sediment

Have a trans shop diagnose & replace the

P1747

Generallry, codes P1746 and P1747 are both related to the EPC electrical circuits. These codes are only generted by and electrical fault. Inspect the wiring connector at the transmission. You may have have to use a mirror to inpsect the connector on the transmission itself. Disconnect both the transmission connector and the pcm connector and check the white/yellow wire (pin 11 at trans connector and pin 81 and PCM) check this wire for an open circuit, shorts to power or ground.
If the wiring checks ok the PCM driver for the epc has failed and the PCM will need to be replaced.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

In my 1999 ford expedition, I get code p1747 and it says in your page that it could be a selenoid. Is there a way to find out which selenoid it is?

There are 2 codes given buy the vehicle the first is P1746 and the second is P1747. How do I replace the EPC Solenoid, and do I need any special tools.

P1746 IS EPC DRIVER CONTROLL FAILURE
P1747 IS EPC CIRCUIT SHORTED OR PCM COULD BE PCM ,,WIRING OR SOLENOID BODY

TO REPLACE SOLENOID BODY,,,,DISCONNECT WIRING HARNESS FROM SOLENOID CONNECTOR THEN DRAIN TRANS FLUID AND REMOVE PAN REMOVE 1 10 MM NUT AND ALL OF THE T30 BOLTS THEN GENTLY PRY DOWN ON SOLENOID ,,,( DON'T TEAR PLATE GASKET BY RAMMING SCREWDRIVER BETWEEN SOLENOID PACK AND TRANNY )... USE CONPRESSED AIR TO CLEAN AROUND SOLENOID CONNECTOR KEEPS DIRT FRON FALLING INTO TRANS.

HOPE THIS HELPS
