  1. Drain the coolant to a level below the thermostat housing.
  2. On some vehicles, access is easier if the front-end beauty panel and the air cleaner are removed.
  3. Remove the 2 bolts securing the thermostat housing to the intake manifold.
  4. Remove the thermostat housing.
  5. Remove the thermostat and O-ring from the housing.

SOURCE: location of fan sensor/1991 cadillac seville

Not exactly sure, but I might be able to point you in the right direction: Haynes or Chilton's repair manual located at your local library for free check out otherwise around $20 bucks at the auto parts store - great reference to have around.. Alternatively you could GO TO (not call) the parts department at your local dealer, they can pull up a photo or schemata and help you with exact info.
Best regards

have you changed the thermostat, check the rad cooling fan operation, checked coolant circulation, check for coolant leak, checked for head gasket problem, checked for a restriction in the cooling system. you don`t say what if anything you have done to eliminate a cause.

AM TRYING TO LOCATE THE THERMOSTAT IN MY 2001 CADILLAC SEVILLE

Your car probably has the 4.6 northstar. If this is the case the thermostat is in the water pump housing at the drivers side of the engine. follow the lower rad hose to the pump housing and its contained in a black (2 bolt 10 mm) housing.

first disconnect the battery and wait ten minutes this will dis able the battery. then get a manual there are several small parts that need to go in a certain way. and for the guy that his car starts then dies sounds like your exhaust system is plugged, simple test disconnect the exhaust just before the catalytic converter and start the engine see it still dies. and the problem isn't even close to the same
