It is usually in line in the heater hose from the block to the heater core. it looks like a mushrom with a linkage on it.

I need to know if there is an external heater control valve on the eatc unit in my 2003 grand marquis /

This vehicle does NOT use a heater control valve. Coolant flows to the heater core at all times. Temperature is regulated by the blend air door and blend door actuator. Locate the blend door. Remove the actuator and open the door by hand. If you get heat, the actuator or the control head is bad. FWIW, the actuator is the most likely cause

2003 grand marquis no heat engine temp normal other eatc ops all normal. is there an external heater control valve on the car?

  • Insufficient, erratic, or no heat
  • Low engine coolant level.
  • Engine overheating.
  • Plugged or partially plugged heater core (18476).
  • Temperature blend door binding/stuck.
  • Temperature blend door actuator (19E616).
  • Incorrect heater control valve (18495) operation.
  • Go To Pinpoint Test I .

Are the heater hose's going through the fire wall hot ?
I2 CHECK FOR HOT WATER TO THE HEATER CORE INLET HOSE WARNING: The heater core inlet hose will become too hot to handle and may cause serious burns if the system is working correctly. Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature. Feel the heater core inlet hose.
  • Is the heater core inlet hose too hot to handle?
Yes GO to I4 .

No REFER to Section 303-03 to check cooling system function.

Air conditioner blows heated air

Sounds like ??
If the compressor is running and the system is full of freon, you may have a blend door problem under the dash. The blend door directs air flow thru the heater core and evaporator core depending on the temp setting on the dash.

Heater core 1991 grand marquis

This may be one of those where the entire dash has to come out to do the heater core.
But you only want to replace the core if it is plugged, or leaking. There is an easy way to tell if it is plugged: with the engine at normal operating temperature, and the control valve open so coolant will circulate, now feel both heater hoses. If core is blocked, only one hose will be hot. If core is circulating correctly, both hoses will be hot. If they are, you don't need to change out the core. One of your vacuum actuated doors is the problem, the blend door that lets air from the blower motor pass over and around the heater core.

I have no heat blowing into my 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis.

Sounds like there is no coolant flowing INTO the heater core to me. There is usually a valve that opens to allow coolant to pass thru the heater core. some are electrical, some are vacuum operated. My suspicion is that you have a bad valve, or no power or vacuum supply to that valve.

1998 mercury grand marquis heater doesnt work only cold air comes out the air cond works fine the enginecoolant is new, the engine doesnt overheat.

Either your heater control valve is not properly operating or your heater core is clogged. Locate the heater control valve under the hood, should be close to firewall on heater hose, have someone adjust temperature from hot to cold and see if you can see the heater control valve operating if so replace the heater core, if its not doing anything replace it(heater control valve).

I do not have any heat in my 1996 grand marquis

could be heater control or plugged heater core.. heater core could be cleaned out by unhooking heater hoses and running water through or a radiator flush.. if its your valve youll need to replace..

No heat in my 98 Grand Marquis

are you shure that you dont have trapped air in the heater core? get a big funnel that will fit tightly in the radiator filler and fill with coolant and run the car to normal operating temp and watch for the level to drop or bubbles to evacuate into the funnel. on really stubborn air locks i have had to squeeze the hoses to pump water through the heater core.

'95 mercury grand marquis enviro unit will not send heat. Fan ,ac,and breakers all good.

might be your thermostat, also make sure the fluid level is correct. it only takes a small amount of low coolant to drop the heat.
