Vanture 2001, Knocking.. - moz-screenshot.jpgLook at your coil, this sounds like it is electrical in nature. Water on a coil will cause a short. Disconnect the wires and dry it off. You may need a new one anyway, the car is over 7 years old. I hope the coil hyperlink worked. If this doesn't fix it, follow the coil wires to the other end and dry that.

Hmm...my neighbor had one of those and I am trying to remember where it was...on normal mounted engines, GM always has them on the backside of the motor, so if that holds true, it should be on the passenger side, on the top of the motor, with two big spark-plug-looking wires on it...go to that hyperlink again and take a look...those two plug posts have wires coming off of them. I'd take those wires off and make sure they are clean (use a rag) and try it again, you may not need a new one...washing it wouldn't have ruined it. I would say that it would end sooner or later by drying out itself, but diesel? That is oily and may not dry off for a long time...or ever. Good luck!

How to remove and replace main bearing in campshaft.

Firstly get the knocking checked out. Camshaft is more of a sharp rap / knock / clatter.
Why do you think the bearing is at fault. If the cam is knocking then its more than the bearing. It needs stripping and investigating. Before you do anything else get the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge. If it's low then you have all sorts of problems. Don't strip or spend anything until a correct diagnosis has been made. You have to establish why its knocking. When was it last serviced? Has it been overheated? Run low on oil? Its 14 years old. How many miles?

Cv joins - knocking

If they're a knockin, they won't last long. Time for an axle replacement. You can get re-built axles for this car, less expensive and easy to replace. You DON'T want them to break while you are driving!! DANGER!!

Does the timing chain and anything to with oil

Yes and no. If the oil pump is going bad the Connecting rods will knock. The Timing chain could be making the sound if the Chain guide came free. My guess is you have a 7 - 70 warranty and they are trying to get out of rebuilding your engine.

Knocking noise when tsking off in drive

Well, hmm, since I'm not there in person, I could only bring to your attention the eight (8) most probable causes of the knocking/pinging sound, and they are best explained in this handy diagnostic article:
http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Vehicle_Car_Zone_Cars_Trucks_Vans_Engine_System_Engine_Knocking_Pinges.htm
This should help.
Good luck!

Knock sensor circuit

The code means there is a problem in the knock sensor circuit, that means the the knock sensor connector wire pins may have a problem, the wiring to the sensor may be damaged, or the PCM may have a problem, and of course the sensor itself, I have one question did you tighten the sensor to the proper inch pound setting of torque? if not this can cause a code to set because the sensor does not vibrate as designed to send a signal of a engine knock/ping.
