Question about 2004 Ford F150

1 Answer

I have a F150 and the driver's window stopped working. THe motor makes noise but nothing moves the window. I've read posts about the trend with bad window parts. Am about to order the regulator, but wonder if I should also replace the motor?

Thanks, I should have explained further. I pulled the panel off and window was in track. I manually lifted the window up and pinned it so it wouldn't fall back down. It appears the cable or mechanism is broken somewhere. I just didn't have time to pull it all out and sort it out. I now read that this type only comes with the motor. It's not the heritage model that you can find everywhere, so I think my only choice is to go to Ford.

No power on driver side door, dome lights stayed on, no window power on any door 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

in the USA we have ASE techs and shops find one and win.
or let him research, he goes to alldata.com and sees the drawings and in 1 hour or less, the true cause, using a cheap voltmeter.
so could you, but if not savvy electron wise, let him do it.
if he is not, find a real tech.

first post all things electric that work, does car drive ok?
do head lights work ok. and full bright.?
what works and what does not, saves vast labor and testing.

dome light stuck on, will its in manual mode, or door switch is stuck closed. end dome.
if the window motors on just one door are bad then bingo its just there. if all windows fail, that is another matter.

i think you mean (window power) the windows do not move up or down on drivers door only.?
correct?
guess yes.....
the tech does not need a manual (mostly)
we check for 12vdc to the motor, up and down.
if 12v (or even 11v) up and down, the motor is bad.
if the motor makes noise but dont move, the window guides are stuck.
if 0v at motor up and down , that means the switch is bad.
or its lock mode set and broken in locked. mode.
same reason bad switch.
but wait i have no 12vd to the switch so the circuit breaker is blown. or i find ground wire to switch, is 12v, oops ground busted.
we can also hot wire the motor to prove motor and guides work;
(unplugged only)

the drawing is here.
https://www.scantool.net/software/alldata-diy-1-month-subscription.html

login and read and download windows drawing in chapters 8w.

that and voltmeter all is easy.
if not, hard.

if you really want to do the tests. say so.
can do .
but can not teach our tech, anything...

My window doesn't roll down in my 2000 Ford f150 I hear noises coming from door and under instrumentcluster

Sounds like a relay may be stuck or bad, that would be the noise underneath. The noise in the door could be the Motor being weak and causing the relay to click or motor to make a humming noise.

2009 f150 sunroof

Should have addressed this when it started making those crunching grinding noises that I am sure it was making before it got stuck. hmmm..manual force is the only thing you can do now....try locating the motor drive....there is usually a manual disconnect so you can move the panel by hand....after disconnecting....forcing forward should be easier....sounds like one side is broken causing the bind.

1990 corvette passenger window just stopped working

is the window switch in the locked position. Might not have on this vehicle.
remove the door panel.
might need to take off any handles that would get in the way.
find the motor and remove the connector.
check for any corrosion or discolored pins.
try the switch with a voltmeter connected between the pins.
should read battery voltage.
if not problem is in wiring.
fuses are the easiest to check.
next try putting connector back on motor to test wire.
hold switch on and very slowly open and close door.
if this makes the window move even a fraction of an inch replace wire.
if nothing happens take the motor out and have it tested.
replace motor if bad.
The window switches have a circuit board that can go bad also.
look for charred or cracked board and at connections to wire harness.

The rear passenger side window recently stopped working. i used the key to roll down all windows and all worked properly. i then rolled them all back up using the key and they all went up smoothly and at...

FIRST YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE REAR PASSENGER INTERIOR DOOR COVER TO GET TO THE WINDOW MOTOR. ONCE REMOVED LOOK TO SEE IF THE WIRE IS STILL CONNECTED TO THE MOTOR. IF IT IS, DISCONNECT THE WIRE. ***IF YOU HAVE A MULTIMETER(OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO DOES) WITH THE IGNITION SET TO AUX, OR ON IT DOESNT MATER, TEST THE POWER COMING FROM THE WIRE. IF IT READS 9.5-12+V, THE POWER IS GETTING TO THE WINDOW MOTOR AND STOPPING, YOU NEED A NEW MOTOR. IF THERE IS NO POWER COMING FROM THE WIRE, YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE YOUR CAR TO A SHOP. IT IS NOT A FUSE SINCE ALL THE WINDOWS RUN OFF THE SAME FUSE AND RELAY.

**IF NO MULTIMETER IS AVALIBLE, TAKE A 12V POWER SOURCE (CAR BATTERY) AND RUN THE POWER DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY TO THE WINDOW MOTOR. IF THE MOTOR RUNS, BAD WIREING. IF THE MOTOR DOES NOT RUN, BAD MOTOR.

Electric window 1991 F150 ...351

If the lock is trying to move, like you hear it but nothing really happens, replace the door lock actuator. i believe the windows are on the same fuse. Try removing the interior door trim and tap on the window motor lightly with a small hammer while holding the switch. If the window moves, replace the motor. If not, check for power and ground at the connector. If you have power and ground (which switch when going up then down) then replace the motor. If you dont, repair the circuit.

Power window on 1990 Ford F150 stops working

the motor has an armature inside that rotates.if it stops on the bad spot,it will draw alot of current.the armature has copper plates with a very fine separation between them.after a while the brushes wear the copper down and it can bridge 2 together.the motor will still run, until one brush stops right where the 2 plates meet.if you bang on it it will work too sometimes.
