Dealer changed a wheel speed sensor. That didn't work. My dealer doesn't seem to know the answer either. I have to keep turning the stability control off when I start the truck.

twice now my yukon reads "service stabilitrac" and then "Engine Power Reduced" and car gets very sluggish. Engine light stays on as well. Any suggestions? Still under warranty but they did'nt fix it the first time. Said they just reset the ECM?

i do have the same problem. the traction active signal comes across the display at any given time of my 05 yukon denali.no throttle power for about 3-5 secs and then it kicks back in. i have a warranty from g.m , but the dalerships cannot find any codes or solution... i suggested they bring a engineer to figure this out. no luck... it's very frustrating ,especially when you purchase warranty's for these circumstances and you still get screwed. hope they rot on the unemployment line.

all wheel drive and stability control are a lot alike, in fact you are better off with all wheel drive.
These vehicles have all four wheel speed sensors and the braking system keeps the speed of all four as close to the same as possible to control slippage.
Power is decreased to any wheel that is moving faster than the others so optimum traction is obtained. and this may cause this problem.

Vibration would have loosened the solder joint on one of the main two leads into the ABS pump on the ABS module.checkout and replace the defective solder, the stability control will work again.

2003 Rav 4 periodically stalls at low idle, intersections

Start with the throttle body. I use brake clean and a toothbrush. Clean the plate and were it sits. Wouldn't hurt to spray down the MAF sensor, if it has one. Once you do it, it will take a few seconds to start. Once started, rev it up and spray inside the throttle. Keep it running. Most times this is a $4 fix.

What is traction stability control light for?

It has 2 functions.

1. to let you know that your Traction and Stability Control System is active. This means that your tires are slipping or your car is leaning and the ststem is actively taking corrective action. This should only cause the light to come on for a few seconds at a time.

2. To let you know that the Traction and Stability Control System is disabled. It may be because the button has been pushed to turn it off or it may be due to a malfunction in the system. Thjis will cause the light to come on and stay on. If it is staying on and it is not because you have turned it off, then the system will have to be diagnosed to find out what the malfunction is that has caused it.

I have a 98 Buick Lesabre Limited with 100,000 kilometers. Excellent car . The TRACTION CONTROL OFF light on the dash panel is coming on after driving a few kms, or on start up, and will not go out. If I...

The traction control system has detected a fault and turned itself off. The system uses sensors at the drive wheels to detect slippage and lock the differential and provide extra traction for acceleration. While the fault light is on, the system is not ready to provide this capability.
The ABS system uses many of the same components to keep the wheels from slipping while braking, and faults often cause both systems to quit.
There are a few things the average person can check for and possible repair, but much of these systems require specialized diagnostics to repair.

2002 ford ranger. some mornings when we get to a

I had the exact same problem with a chev where it would stall or almost stall at an intersection like it had a clutch, Mine seemed to only happen when it warmed up. It turned out to be the torque converter clutch (TCC) inside the tranny. Where my car was getting quite old I opted to just disconnect it, a local transmission shop confirmed it wouldn't cause any problems but I would loose gas milage on the highway. Where the 02 ranger is all electronic shifting you may want to check if disconecting would cause any problems.

It sounds like the torque converter clutch. Just unplug it. It is the square 4 pin plug on the front of the transmission. Once it is unplugged and you get it unlocked, it will be fine. Just leave it unplugged, it won't hurt anything.
