Question about 1991 Honda Civic
Without warning my 91 civic dx lost power like running out of gas, then sputtered and backfired to a hault. Upon restart the engine starts and stalls over and over. When accelerator is applied at restart engine runs very irradically backfiring and missing accompanied by a strong smell if unburnt gas. Checked timing, Dist., Rotor, Cap, Wires, Plugs. Same happenes after cool down. This hasen't ever happened in the past. Please help, I'm at a loss at this point.......Thanx,
The car still runs and drives, just no power and shakes badly during acceleration. Could the timing belt have jumped? Could this happen while driving yet the car still runs?

Your timing belt could be broken. You want to have this checked as soon as possible to prevent any further engine problems.
