I did a key code search on a 1993 toyota corolla . The key code was located on the passenger front doors lock cylinder (door lock tumbler). You have to disassemble the door panel and remove the lock cylinder from the door to read the tiny numbers on the lever of the lock cylinder..I would recommend calling your local toyota dealer and confirming it is on the lock cylinder before tearing apart the door....You would have to give them the code to get a new key cut. hope this info helps..
Late model Toyota's have had a significant amount of key and lock problems. Find a locksmith that specializes in automotive. Your key may need to be "decoded" (new key cut to factory specs) or new door lock or both.
