Question about 1995 Toyota Tacoma

96 toyota tacoma manual turns over but will not start

When i start the truck it turns over but chug chug chug and then it dies...it doesnt seem to want to fire up.. sometimes it will fire up for a brief second and then it dies..  i just had a tune up, all belts, spark plugs, rotor, and wires changed was told the fuel injectory looked fine (don't know how trustable that opinion is)
if i wait a few minutes it has always started.. one time i had to wait 20 minutes
this does not happen all the time.. probably 1 in every 18 times i go to start it up it does this..
what could it be.. any ideas.. thanks

Sounds like the system lacks fuel pressure, check the fuel pump pressure.

96 Toyota Tacoma 5 speed 1.4L car start but it keep on dying, though it was the idle but it is not any answer?

When was the last healthy tune up? Replace plugs, wires and all filters especially FUEL filter. Also run a good fuel system cleaner through it like STP or Gumout fuel treatment. This will give you a good "ground zero" for reliability.

Which battery would you replace a 2003 Toyota Tacoma's with?

I prefer Interstate Batteries. They seem to last longer than the others. Costco brand is about 30% less cost, if that is an issue.
I dislike Sears Die Easy, as I have witnesses sooooo many die much quicker than expected.

it is a self adjusting hydraulic clutch, if the clutch is engaging high on the pedal the clutch is worn out.

96 Toyota Tacoma lacks take off power and stumbles

Any trouble light? Sounds like it might be misfiring during acceleration which is more related to ignition quality than timing. Check the spark plugs--if badly worn, replace them. Might need new spark plug wiring. Check the air cleaner. Replace the O2 sensor if the truck has a lot of miles. Look for loose or cracked vacuum hoses.

My 96 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 with a 3400 engine has been not starting.

sounds like the fuel pump as failed, get a fuel pressure test gauge from Kragen or Autozone (about $15) and test the pressure when you turn the key on it should be at 45 PSI instantly.
