    When you say not firing what does that mean, no spark? Check the fuel pressure, verify there is spark to the plugs.

    Have you run a code test on the powertrain control module (PCM)?

Go under the hood and there is a box (Grey) open it and there are plugs there is a 3prong plug that it what makes you gas pump, pump your gas and it is about $4.00 so change the it is placed on the right of the box and it is placed close to the front. If it is just making a popping noise then your starter is out. The only other thing would be you ignition switch cheap way out do the 3 prong plug first.

1998 Ford Explorer. 4.0 liter. SOHC Good fuel pressure. & good fire on plugs. Changed crankshaft sensor . Still wont crank, No fuel is getting thru the Injectors.


check for a problem cam shaft censor as well as a crank position sensor as both are required to be operational for the ECM to start the engine

that is true your firing order is wrong here is a link to a web sight that has all the 1998 explorers 6cyl just click on the one that your explorer is and it'll show you the correct firing order also make sure you have your plugs gaped right good luck.
