Question about 1996 Ford Ranger SuperCab

No power in fuel pump wiring

I replaced my sending unit on my 95 ranger and i put everything back together there was no power going to the fuel pump. I checked all relays and fuses and they were all good. I also checked the emergency shutoff switch and reset it and still nothing. Then I tested to see if there was any power at the emergency shutoff switch and there is none, I tested the fuel pump and it works fine, I i also tested the wire from the emegency shutoff to the fuel pump and there is no problem. You have any solutions?

How did you test the fuel pump ? If you removed it and placed current on it , it is not the same . It is still very likely the fuel pump.

Gas guage problem

Most likely the sending unit is bad in the fuel tank. The easiest way to get to it is to remove the bed. Taking the tank off is quite a chore. You can unplug the tail light harness and the license plate lights& take the 6 bolts out of the bed and 2 good men can lift the bed off. The fuel tank will be in full view. Take the sending unit out of the tank by unhooking the fuel lines, wiring plug and turn the lock ring counter clockwise and lift the fuel pump and sending unit out of the tank and replace it. Reinstall it and check to see if it is working before you put the bed back on. I hope this is helpful.

Perhaps you did not get the wires plugged back together properly. Or, perhaps you damaged the sending unit in the tank when you had it apart.

Or, perhaps you accidentally blew the fuse for it when you were changing the pump, or you have pinched some wires when you put it back together, causing a short, and the guage not to work.

You will have to find out if it is plugged in properly, with no pinched/cut wires, and check to see that there is power going to the gauge.

If there is power going to the guage, and it still doesn't work, then you will have to repair the sending unit in the tank.

1996 ford ranger fuel gauge stuck on empty

It's not really easy to tell, you need to test for power and ground at the sending unit at the fuel tank, while someone is watching the fuel gauge inside the vehicle. 90% of the time (especially on Ford's) it's a faulty sending unit in the fuel tank, which is usually sold with the fuel pump...if not, I would replace the pump while I had the tank out anyway just as a precautionary measure.
. the "float' is the part that of the sending unit that registers fuel level and sends that
