Just had the same problem and fixed it by changing the Intake manifold gasket, which was leaking. Local mechanic did a great job for $350.00.

My 99 Ram did the same thing a while back. My catalytic converter was bad. Replaced it and she was just like new.

If the engine lite is on. code #(s) need to be retrieved from computer. if no engine lite, poss. clogged exhaust (broken converter) or poor fuel pressure. does it feel like its holding back or hesitating, bucking?

Air cond, quits blowing from the dash when i give it the gas?

Look for a vac leak in the control system, the controls draw vac from the engine. There should be a storage tank or ball somewhere that could be leaking, or the main hose to the engine.

1995 dodge 3500 4wd wont engage have shifter on floor light wont come on or 4wd wont engage

Any time your dealing with a 4x4 system the best start is at you front axle. Its primarily a vacuum leak so check to see if the 2 vac lines are hooked up (its good to check the electric connections.). When your 4 wheel drive is engaged and the motors running you should have vacuum at one or both of thee lines depending on if your in 4 hi or low .
If no vacuum at axle check the Vacum switchs(the plug with 4 vac lines) on top of the transfer case it will have 2 feed lines(grey & green) they conect in to the into the vacum harness on back of motor (passanger side). A vacum schematic is normally located on the raditor core support (right under the hood next to hood release)
Hope this helps

I had a similiar problem on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion Van. It ended up being a partial collapse of the catalytic converter which didn't allow adequate exhaust. The problem only showed itself because I could not get over 55 mph going up a small hill.

YOU'RE GONNA HATE THIS BUT IT DOES SOUND LIKE A FUEL ISSUE. HOWEVER HERE'S THE CATCH.....THE FURL FILTER IS IN THE GAS TANK CONNECTED TO THE FUEL PUMP. YOU HAVE TO DROP THE TANK OR TAKE THE BED OFF TO GET TO IT. AND YOU CAN ONLY GET THE NEW FILTER AT THE DEALER. THE LOCAL PARTS STORE DOESN'T CARRY THESE. BUT I'M NOT SURE ABOUT NAPA, THEY MIGHT. YOU MIGHT ALSO WANT TO CHECK FOR A VAC. LEAK AROUND THE THROTTLE BODY. LASTLY WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU DID ANYTHING TO THE TRANS.? MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO THAT.
