Towing jack not working

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with the tow package and electronic brake system. When I connect the trailer the green light comes on but once I turn on the running lights the light on the box goes red then off. In the mean time the lights never work on the trailer? I have checked all the fuses and have gone through all the wires on the trailer so what else could be wrong? What am I missing......please help

Check the plug on the truck, make sure it's clean. You may have to pull it apart & make sure no wire strands from one terminal, are touching another, via wirestrand or corrosion.

Trying to determine trailer towing capacity for my

From the information that i have been able to gather your maximum towing capacity is 85-8900lbs. You should always check your owners manual or with the manufacturer for towing capacities.

I do not have power on the aux. terminal in the trailer plug on a 2008 dodge ram. Any ideas?

You have got 7 pin trailer connector that was included in the optional trailer tow package. This trailer tow package also includes an electric trailer brake wiring provision that terminates at a connector located on top of the large body harness connection under the instrument panel to the left of the break pedal, as well as an electric trailer brake pigtail harness and an instruction card that are stored in the glove box when the vehicle is shipped from the factory. You will need to add an electric brake controller of your choice that will plug-in to the harness and that will also give you power on your auxiliary circuit.

Trailer lights

This is the tow vehicle end. The brown wire ( #6 terminal) is the one to concentrate on. It must have a bad connection either in plug at bumper or wherever mounted, or follow it back toward front of vehicle, and will likely have a connector just behind bumper area, or up near frame as well. Best thing is to use a test light ($5-$10) and probe toward front until you get power showing, then work back to plug to isolate. Begin by checking terminal at plug with blinker on, if no flashing of test light, find brown wire on back of plug & test there, and keep going toward front of truck, especially concentrate on connection areas. Need wirering diagram to hook up trailer lights and elecric break

Also try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. They have a great website with lots of info. With the tow package, there should be a plug under the dash... far left above the emerg. brake petal. The harness that plugs into it should have came with the truck, or you can order one to fit it. Did thew truck come with a 7 pin plug on the back? If not you can order one from the above mentioned site. They also have the wiring colors.

Installing electronic trailer brake for 2005 dodge ram 150. How to? I have a Reese Brakeman Compact to install. It has four wires (blue, black, red and white) coming out of it, but how do i figure our...

Get the Dodge harness adaptor. Typically about $15 at most auto supply places that carries towing stuff, possibly at an RV center too.
The adaptor will connect to a white plug under your dash, if you have the towing package installed from the factory.
Mine (a '97) was taped to the mega connector just to the right of the e-brake pedal... The package came with instructions on where to find it but no pictures so I had to dig a bit up under there!
If you do not have the towing package, you will be best served doing as the instructions that came with the controller say OR downloading instructions from the Reese website.
