Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I have a 1996 jeep grand cherokee that is stalling

I am having a problem with my Jeep stalling, or failing to start. I have recently had the plugs, dist.cap and rotor and wires replaced. I also recently replaced the cat. The car will start fine in the morning, but then after I go shopping, or another short stop and try to start the car it gives me problems. It may start briefly, but then quickly die. I will wait a few minutes, then try again, after several attempts Ieventually I was able to get it running very roughly.I had to rev the engine for a couple of minutes, it backfired a couple of times, also.

Sounds like you may have a fuel delivery problem,There is a fuel regulator that keeps a steady pressure this may have the same tendencies as a fuel pump cavatating also,Have a good garage do a fuel flow test as well as a fuel pump pressure test.

I have a 1996 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo. It started stalling at idle and now it will not start.

sounds like a fuel supply problem-change the fuel filter and run some injector cleaner through it-it also could be a bad fuel pump-Denny

Try looking at your air filter. You could have a vacuum leak, like you already said. Also, check your coolant sensor and intake air temp sensor, if equipped.

the alternator failed this is usually a chrylser and jeep dodge isue the bearing fails and the alternator quits charging the if the light comes on its usually alternator but on some jeeps the light dosent come on because it reads that it is charging

the other thing that it could be is the battery shot on ya the only thing you can do to see if its a good battery do a battery acid test
