Question about 1997 Honda Accord

1 Answer

The pointers (4) on my dash don't light up. All other dash lights light up and dim properly. I hear it is 4 separate bulbs but it seems strange that all 4 would go. Is this common or could it be something else. Also steps to disasemble the dash to get to them if this is the only problem.

They need to be illuminated because even with dash lights on you can't see the pointers.

The pointers need to light up separately because they can't be seen otherwise.

The opointers are lit by the lights form the gauges, there is not a seperate bulb for the pointers, more than likely either they are not made ot light up, if they are white then they do not light up, if they are orange in color then it is possible they just do not have the proper illumination to them....

If headlights don't come on on a 2000 Buick Lesabre what do you think is wong

first go for the easy stuff. do the tail lights come on? if so, then will almost guarantee it's bad bulbs in headlights. if tail lights do not come on I would check fuses first relay second. switch third.

Lights dim

Was any of the brake light bulbs changed recently, the wrong type of bulb may be used causing a short in the socket, and making the rest of the brake and signal circuit malfunction. I no bulbs were recently replaced, start with checking for corrosion in each bulb socket, signal and brake bulb sockets. Let us know what you find

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP clicking under dash

clicking is a relay energizing then switching of only to repaet the operation
from you description of dim lights etc
I suspect that you have a faulty ground wire for the dash , instruments or relay that controls those items

Dash lights and radio lights dim at night

Strange behavior. I don't see a relay, but the components have logic circuitry. Not sure why--bad design. What I would do is test the dimmer. Unplug the connector and put an ohmmeter across the yellow and gray wires (terminals S and J). Ohms should go from infinity to zero as you rotate the dimmer knob.
