You have a wiring problem, my suggestion is to have a dealer look at it....

2002 Chevy Malibu. Left side brake lights not working. Brake lights come on when car is started, so I know that (new) bulbs are fine. Any ideas? Right side lights are fine.

the socket (or board) that the bulbs are on are known to go bad. its actually a common repair. the lights coming on when vehicle is running is just a parking light not the brake light. you either installed the wrong bulb(needs to be a double filament) or the board is no good. Good luck

if the bulbs are ok! check bulb socket to see if you have power.with test light, if not make sure sockets are clean. check the bulbs first, because they are a double filiment bulb. for brakes and tail lights. did you change the correct fuse!! it is located in interior fuse box on drivers side end of dash. its on bottom left side of fuse box. its labled "stp lps". hope this helps,

Rear brake light on a 2000 chevy malibu wont work. just the drivers side. passengers side works fine. replaced bulbs but wont work

check or put a ground wire on the light. maybe its bad. run from brake light to a suitable ground, to see if it works.

Brake Lights out on 1991 Honda Accord

After you have checked the fuseand the bulb connection, you may also want to check the brake switch located at top of the brake padel under the dashboard. Once you push the brake padel, the switch will trigger and the brake light will be on. Use simple 12 volt test pen or voltmeter to test the current supply. Enjoy it.

ok disreguard my other answer, you have ot remove the positive battery cable when pluggin in the new circuit board, or it will cause a default in the computer system, so remove the positive battery cable and plug the circuit board back in, you should not have a problem then.
