What do I do next

The problem isn't the converter. When a converter is glowing red, there is too much unburned fuel in the exhaust system and the converter is trying to burn it up, but can't. The honeycomb inside the converter will melt down soon if it already hasn't. Unburned fuel could be an engine miss from a bad spark plug, defective O2 sensor, plug wire or other.

Loss of power any incline i know that to much oil was put in on last oil change driven about 500 miles before i noticed and drained and put proper amount in. could the catalatic converter be causing t

Filling the engine oil above the maximum fill mark on the dipstick can and will cause damage to the catalytic converter. If you have a check engine light on scan and look for a code that indicates a problem with the catalyst. If there is a code indicating a problem with the catalyst this is your catalytic converter. You can get an aftermarket converter from about any parts store for around $200 but it will probably only last about a year. I recommend a VW Genuine converter and they are about $500 but they last much longer than the cheaper aftermarket converters. Before you run out and buy a converter, make sure that this is the problem before you spend a lot of money only to have the same problem. 1 way to verify it is to remove the converter and install a section of pipe where the converter was and see if you still have a power loss. I do not recommend driving the car this way for a long period, just long enough to test it and verify it or further damage may result. Hope this helps.

P0422 general evap failure i tested gas cap and it failed replaced gas cap and repaired a vac hose to the purge soilniod light comes back on within 10 min of clearing it

P0422 Buick - Catalyst below threshold.

Catalytic converter is clogged or out of medium.

Replace it.

ACTUAL DIAGNOSTIC:

Fault Code Definition
Code P0422 indicates that the Bank 1 Main Catalytic Converter's emissions efficiency has fallen below the minimum allowable limit. This threshold is tracked by a Catalyst Monitoring Oxygen Sensor located on or near the outlet of the Catalytic Converter.

Symptoms

* Check Engine Light will illuminate
* In many cases, no abnormal symptoms may be noticed

Common Problems That Trigger the P0422 Code

* Defective Catalytic Converter
* Engine misfires have damaged the Catalytic Converter
* Internal engine damage resulting in high oil consumption and/or a leaking Head gasket has damaged the Catalytic Converter

Common Misdiagnoses

* Oxygen Sensors are replaced when the real problem is a damaged Catalyst
* Catalyst is replaced when the real problem is internal engine damage, which is producing elevated emissions levels
* Catalyst is replaced when a misfiring engine is the real problem

Most of the problems are caused by the converter. You must replace the converter when rebuilding or replaceiong the transmission. I knoe because I have several and that is the main problem, it goes out and damages the trans. I go with a heavey duty or bullit converter. I have several dodge rams with well over 300,000 miles anddo a lot of plowing and towing. I would order a heavy duty over the internet, not use the standard. Check with www.transmissioncenter.net or http://tpiconverters.com/

Yellow check engine light came on; code; P0741 refers to possible torque converter problem. car runs fine. what else could it be?

Audi code P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off, THIS IS IN MOST CASES A STUCK TORQUE CONVERTER LOCK UP CLUTCH, U MAY NOT EVEN NOTICE THIS AS ALL GEARS WILL WORK JUST NO TORQUE CONVERTER LOCK UP, U WILL NEED TO VERIFY THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH CIRCUIT IS OK AND IF SO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER.

Emissions test code comes up as 0743 torque converter circuit problem. how do you fix this on a 1998 ford windstar 3.8l engine?

U have a problem in the transmission torque converter clutch control circuit, most likely the solenoid switch that applies the lock up clutch of the torque converter is defective or a the torque converter itself is defective, the trans pan will need to be removed to check the problem further.

Check for a restricted converter. If your vehicle has high mileage and the converter is OE it can caused a lack of power. Misfire problems can lead to converter problems.

Toyota Mr2 Automatic transmition problems

Not 100% sure on that one but very common in past that torque converter would move out from transmission slightly, and cause similar problem. used to have to rotate torque converter, while pushing in toward transmission, and suddenly when in the right place, would pop inward another inch or so. Had to remember to do that all the time. Sometimes you could rotate that torque converter 20-30 times before you'd get the "pop" and it would move in to place. Can you spin torque converter easily, while against engine? If not, that may be your problem. If so, back off bolts until you can carefully, and try that, you may find things come together easier after if that is the problem.
