Need starter location for 2002 montero sport

Sarter has been going bad for a while now all it does is click. I can tell by the clicking sound where it is in general but need to know exactly where it is located and what other components I need to remove to get at it so I can replace it witha rebuilt one.

Thank you

Cv joint and boots

Hi Wendy Ann,
Hard to give an exact diagnosis when I can not hear the noise myself. Generally, a bad CV joint will make a clicking sound when you turn a corner. From what you describe, it sounds like you've been ignoring the problem for some time. Due to the mileage on your car, I would recommend that you change both front half axle assemblies. [There are two CV joints/boots on each half axle] This is a common problem on front wheel drive cars.

I have a 1993 saturn SL2 1.9L dohc engine and at certain rpm it makes a click sounding like it is coming from front of engine i think its timing chain tensioner any ideas?

I do not know what your mileage is but if you are over 110,000 in a DOHC then a cam chain is in order unless it has already been done. when you do it get a kit as the are guides, sprockets, and a tensioner needed as well. when you are putting it back together do the serpentine belt tensioner and the dog bone motor mounts. generally a cam chain sounds more like loud whirr than click. sticky valves click, but that generally goes away as the engine warms up. a/c clutch could make a click cutting in and out if the system is dry and there is nothing to compress. have you tried this in park with the hood open and someone else hitting the gas pedal to hit the magic rpm? you might see something attending the click or get some better idea as to exact location.

Sounds as if it could be the starter motor, the click souns as if the solenoid is operating but not firing the sarter in, If car has manual transmission, it should bump start.

Jeep commander clicks once and won't start. It is

The starting issue is the same I had on my 2005 Grand Cherokee. The wire coming from the ignition (key area) to the Starter the connection is bad. The shop replaced the lead and it is perfectly fine... it cost $70. I dont know the techincal terms.. but it was easy to fix- the problem is water and junk gets splashed up by the front tire and corroded the wire into the sarter.... that's all it was.
Good luck.

hi, the problem may be in the ignition switch itself. this part can take lots of stress during time and, the wiring can become lose, causing shorts.

When u try to turn the car over it just clicks once.

try and start the vehicle with a boost from another car or battery. i'm afraid that if the vehicle does NOT turn over it could possibly be seized.
