The spark plugs go straight down through the center of the cam/valve cover. You must remove the plastic cover going down the center to get to the wires and plugs.

With that said, I do not recommend that you attempt to replace your plugs unless you have a source of compressed air. The removal procedure includes "cracking the plugs loose and turning approximately 3/4 turn. Then place a blow-gun with a long tube down inside the spark plug tube and blow out any debris that is in the tube before revoving the plugs the rest of the way. Failure to follow this procedure can cause debris to enter the combustion chamber when the plugs are removed and can cause serious engine damage.

REMOVAL OF THE PLUGS:

Do not attempt any maintenance on spark plug if engine is hot.
1. Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2. Carefully remove high-tension leads.
3. Use compressed air to blow any dirt or debris from around spark plug hole.
4. Check that spark plug fits squarely in spark plug socket and remove spark plug.

Raise a vehicle and install SST(OK552 131 001) in order to replace cylinder 2, 4, 6 spark plug.

INSTALLATION:

1. Install spark plug into cylinder head.

Tightening torque : 18~22lb-ft (25~30N·m, 2.5~3.0kg-m)

2. Reconnect high-tension leads.
3. Reconnect negative battery cable.

Hope this helps and simple to understand. Good luck

Why my 2002 kia rio stalles out everytime i step on the acceleration and keeps getting worse i changed spark pluggs and air filter and fuel filter please help me oh and everytime i go up hills i loss speed...

you need to check your fuel pressure at the rail with a gauge. But to me it sounds like the spark plug boots . If they crack or split it will cause symptoms just like yours, mostly shaking while under load. Since you already changed the plugs change the boots or wires too.

I am trying to change the spark plugs on a 2002 Kia rio what socket do I use to get them out?

Your standard spark plug socket size is a 5/8. Make sure that you buy one that is used for spark plug removal, these have a special rubber boot on the inside so that you don't accidently break the old plugs in half. Any auto parts store sells this socket.

Wondering if the kia rio has spark plugs or is it electronic, if electroni how do i change them myself ?

Yes it has spark plugs, there is no other way a gasoline engine can run. If you have to ask, you should not attempt it. Have a garage replace them for you. Use only NGK or Denso spark plugs. Many a easy job has been totally screwed up by people trying to save a dollar.

SIR, 2002 KIA RIO CINCO MISSING REAL BAD

Odds are, the O2 sensor is just detecting an imbalance in the Air/Fuel ratio, therfor causing your O2 sensor code.

Start by changing your spark plug wires, if it hasn't been done in a while.

2004 Kia Rio turns over but won't start.

These are coil packs, the most likely problem will be the crank sensor,or the cam sensor, these are what trigger the pulse for spark, and injector pulse.

My Kia Rio Cinco has a problem with rain

The moisture baffles me,but the no power tells me its a bad catalyst, fuel pump,or bad fuel filter,You can have all these checked,at an auto parts store, and get recomedations.I dont see how moisture has anything to do with these though...unless there is water getting in the air intake somewhere.
