97 Tahoe engine stalls

My sons Tahoe said that the engine has started stalling when braking to stop. A few days later he said that it would stall when shifting from park to drive but it 's ok from park to reverse? Starting to sound like a transmission problem?

The engine runs quite and smooth when @ idle and at running speed. The stall occurs when slowing down at a light or stop sign, restarts with no problem.

97 Tahoe hesitates and sometimes acts like it will stall when accelerating. Stalls when coming to a stop.

even if you hear pump run, dosent mean it has enough pressure. it is very possible this is the problem. could be engine miss as well. does it jerk when accellerating (light load, like in overdrive up a hill?) let me know.

2003 civic stalls at stop

If a Honda is not producing enough amps it could cause it to stall but the battery should die if its the alternator. Sounds like the coil or distibutor.

I have a 96 Tahoe and when i press the brake pedal i hear a hissing sound by the pedal and engine sometimes stalls, what could the problem be ?

That sounds like a brake booster problem. The brake booster runs on engine vacuum to help make the brake pedal easier to push and easier to stop the tahoe. When a booster develops an internal leak, you can hear the vacuum escaping through the leak when you step on the brake. The engine stalls because the vacuum leak in the brake booster also causes a large vacuum leak for the engine.

To verify that this is actually the problem, go outside the vehicle with the hood open. Find the large brake fluid reservoir attached to a large round metal black (usually) canister on the driver's side of the firewall. (back of the engine compartment.) There is a large black rubber hose pushed into the top of the black canister, which is the vacuum line attached to the brake booster. Pull the rubber hose out of the grommet on the booster and stick your finger over the hose. Have someone start the tahoe. You will feel a considerable amount of vacuum pulling at your finger, and if you take your finger off the hose, the engine will stall. Also have someone step on the brakes while your finger is over the vacuum hose. If the noise is gone then you know the problem is in the brake booster.
Don't forget to re-attach the vacuum line to the brake booster. Failure to do this will result in the engine running very rough (if at all) and the brakes will require excessive effort to try to stop the tahoe.

1998 chevrolet tracker 1.6 16v automatic trans. engine starts but some times later (twice a day) it stops but runs imediately. few days ago I installed new air filter (the old one was very durty). what is...

the automatic trans has a torque lock kind of another gear...hard to explain but if it stalls when stopping then the torque lock solonoid is probably sticking.

94 Lincoln TC engine stalls when slowing/stopping

Most common cause of stalling for Lincolns in that era is the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). It regulates fuel mixture, idle speed etc. A bad TPS will usually act up in one of two ways:
  1. When cold, car continually stalls
  2. When warm, car stalls when slowing down (especially if AC is on)
As far as valve cover oil leak, it's a problem that should be addressed to keep oil from fouling your spark plugs but highly unlikely to be the cause of your stalling problem. Hope this answers your question. All the best.
