Question about 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

1997 grand cherokee laredo fuel gauge alarm

When the fuel gauge gets to 1/2 an alarm occurs. If the alarm sounded once it would be alright. However, it goes on and on. The user guide indicates this alarm has variable settings. How is this setting accomplished?

Replace the gas tank mounted fuel pump - AND the filter and gas guage sensor. $300-440 at a dealer.
Get them to clean out the water and "gel" (its parrafin I think) from the tank. Insist they do it.

Fuel gauge always reads full and low fuel light won't work

Sounds like you have a short most likely a bad fuel sending unit located as part of the fuel pump. Most of the time you have to replace the pump because the pump and the sending unit are as one. Have you been to an Auto Parts store like Advanced Auto or Autozone? That's also a great source of ideas when you get stumped.

Good Luck. Hope this helped.
