When the fuel gauge gets to 1/2 an alarm occurs. If the alarm sounded once it would be alright. However, it goes on and on. The user guide indicates this alarm has variable settings. How is this setting accomplished?

i have a 1997 jeep grand cherekee laredo and am having a problem with the alarm its a factory alarm it whent off and i cant get it to reset i tryed everything i could locking and unlocking the doors i put all new fuses and relays in i even unpluged top dash alarm sensor and body control module and it just dont want to reset and it dont want to run at all how can i take care of the problem
Sounds like you have a short most likely a bad fuel sending unit located as part of the fuel pump. Most of the time you have to replace the pump because the pump and the sending unit are as one. Have you been to an Auto Parts store like Advanced Auto or Autozone? That's also a great source of ideas when you get stumped.
