Cruise Control Broken F250 Ford 2000 Model

Today I traveled about 100 miles with crusie control working. On the return trip it would not work at all.

However; upon checking fuses (OK), I found a small piece of metal with a rubber tip on it on the floor board on drivers side. I presume it came from the cruise control. Does anyone know which part of the cruise control it represents and how do you get to the controls in the steering wheel???? All assistance will be greatly appreciated...

The cruise control was not broken. I did find a piece on the floor board that resembled something unknown and broken. I still don't know where that came from.

The cruise control began working after I tapped on the two relay control boxes under the hood. I presume that the relay was dirty or just not making good contact. I may need to replace it later. I made a 400 mile trip and it worked all the way.

    Thank you for your help!

There actually is a Fuse and a Relay for this. There should be a Fuse in the Cab Fuse Box and a Relay in the Fuse Relay Box under the Hood. These are where I would start.

SOURCE: the horn and cruise control doesn't work, fuses are

the horn input to ground is located in the cruise control module. if they both don't work then your cruise control module or the clockspring coil for the steering wheel needs to be replaced. If airbag lights is on as well then I would change the clockspring coil first.

SOURCE: 96 F250 cruise control not working

Is the truck an automatic or standard? Commonly the failure has to do with either the brake pedal switch or the clutch pedal switch. What have you checked out so far? Were there any recent repairs? Did your truck make the recall list (check with your local ford dealer), Have you checked for any blown fuses?

Crusie control does not work on 2011 gmc sierra 1500 and I've already replaced the switch?

If the switch is replaced, then it can be wiring issue or faulty cruise control board. But as the switch is replaced, get the voltage at the switch tested to confirm the switch is actually receiving voltage. If no voltage received at switch power supply wire then ,apply external 12 volt power to the cruise control switch wire and then see if cruise control comes ON.If yes, then you know wiring is issue.

2000 ford f250 with 7.3 diesel horn and cruise stopped working. Replaced clock spring wireing harness but cruise still not working

Do you have a multiswitch on this? Cruise not working would indicate that to me. The horn you got working, then, with the clock spring wiring.

Check to see if the cable for actuating the cruise underneath the hood at the throttle body is broken or not.

far as radio goes might just be attenana wire came loose or off
as far as crusie control there are alot things that could be wrong with it easiest thing would be to check fuses if there good best thing would be to take it somewhere and have it looked at

How to use cruise control

Here are the steps in using cruise control:

  1. Get on a road you will be traveling at the same speed for a long period of time, such as a freeway.
  2. Reach your desired speed. Choose a speed that allows you to move with the flow of traffic and not go over or under the designated speed limit for that road.
  3. Locate the ON and SET buttons on your steering wheel. Press ON first and SET after. Your cruise control is now activated. Most vehicles must be traveling at least 30 miles per hour to set the cruise control.
  4. Press and hold the SET button if you wish to use cruise control at a higher speed. Hold until your desired speed is reached.
  5. Decrease speed by pressing the COAST button.
  6. Push the brake pedal to disengage the cruise control function. If you wish to return to the previous set speed, use the RES (resume) button. You must be traveling at least 30 miles per hour for this function to resume.
  7. Erase any previous speed by pressing the OFF button.

Your model may be under the recalls. There was a mass recall for Ford controls and the dealers added a inline fuse under the hood by the cruise control box.

Cruise Control

Most at the time its a brake/cruise control swich located above brake pedal. Its might be shorted or pedal not pushing swich back enough for cruise to work.Anyway the swich is ajustable or replaceable.Ajust it so buton goes about 1/2 of its lengt in.
