Question about 1991 Ford Festiva

2 Answers

Hi, I have a 90' festiva, 1.3 that has a hesitation like a bad coil or TPS after it runs for about 5 to 15 minites. I have replaced the coil, distrib, cap, rotor wires plugs and IAC,& by passed the TPS. If I push the pedal to the floor most of the time it stutters then takes off. this happens in all gears. I have had it to two repair shops and the Ford dealer, all of which have not been able to figure it out. any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Bob

Hesitation is usually a dirty throttle body and idle air control motor.

My 97 was doing this, I too put a lot of money before figuring out that it was a bad coil and coil wire. Works great now. Do you have the 4.3L

What cause accelerate power loss

CODE SCAN FOR FAULTY TPS SENSOR.IF TPS SENSOR BAD YOU WILL SEE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASH ON.A BAD TPS SENSOR WILL CAUSE HESITATION DURING ACCELERATION. IF TPS SENSOR OKAY NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING. DIRTY FUEL INJECTORS AND STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER WILL CAUSE SAME PROBLEM.

Its like its missing,no power.maybe one cyl not working prop

MANY THINGS WILL CAUSE MISSING AND NO POWER LIKE FAULTY TPS SENSOR. SOUND LIKE STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER, CLOGGED FUEL INJECTORS, CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS IF YOU HAVE ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTIONS.OMIT IF YOU HAVE 2 BARREL CARBURETOR. DO A LITTLE TUNE UP.REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR. REPLACE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES. A BAD IGNITION COIL WILL CAUSE ENGINE TO MISS.DO A COMPRESSION TEST CHECK FOR WORN CYLINDERS WILL CAUSE ENGINE MISS.

Vehicle hesitates when during acceleration runs 2005 lincon ls

Got a Check Light on dash?
Got any stored codes?

Most likely you have a COP Ignition Coil going bad.
Have the TPS Sensor checked also. I would prefer a scope trace, to a voltage reading

You can expect at least one part failure a year on the LS I have a 2004.

Got codes--give them to me,I'll help you out.

Car was running fine when parked will not start replaced battery after running it down its a 1988 ford festiva turns over fine

majority of cars will not start if the coil pack has went bad. so try to find one at a slavage yeard to see if thats what it is or maybe your starter or silanoid has gone bad and willl not allow to crank up.

Hesitation while exceleration

Have these things checked for #1:
Spark plug
plug wire
#1 fuel injector
and the throttle position sensor, also have a fuel pressure test done, especially for the hesitation.
