SOURCE: replacing spare tire winch 2004 chev trailblazer

I have a '02 TrailBlazer and I had the same problem. When I got a flat and went to change the tire on the side of the road I was not able to get the tire off the winch. Luckly, I have AAA and the driver knew the trick to getting the tire free. The process involved lowering the tire as far as it would go and then kicking it. Wind back up and repeat until the winch free's itself.

When I took the car into the shop to get the tire fixed and the have the spare put back on the car, they were not able to get the winch free enough to put the tire back on. They said that is is a common problem with this mechanism and suggested replacing the winch system (estmated parts and labor $215). From what I can tell the winch accumulates rust up in the cable and locks up.

Where is the rod kept that when turned lower your spare tire

Fold back seat down where your scissor jack is located, use the same handle for the jack to lower the spare tire. The portal hole for that is just under back bumper or near license plate.

Cannot remove spare tire from undercarriage

Hello, this vehicle has a locking device to keep the spare tire from falling down. you will have to perform these steps to remove spare tire.

  • Turn the folding wrench clockwise to raise the jack until it lifts the secondary latch device under the wheel plate.
  • Keep raising the jack until the compact spare tire stops moving upward and is held firmly in place. This lets you know that the secondary latch has released.
  • Lower the jack by turning the folding wrench counterclockwise. Keep lowering the jack until the compact spare tire is resting on the folding wrench

Where do i find the location of the spare tire jack for my 2001 Suburban?

in my burb, the jack and all the components are in a compartment located between the 3rd row seat cupholder and the mesh/container compartment. it's kind of deep and it has a small indednt for a handle, lift that and it should pop right out, then you can undo the nut to release the jack and wheel chokes. then follow konkomados's steps to lower your spare at the back

How do i lower the spare tire on a 06 durango??? Also where is my jack located???

Ur jack is under the right rear passenger seat (the one that fold up) and to lower the tire you have to look under the trunk compartment. there is a little circle cut out of the liner. pull that up and there is the knob. happy hunting.

I just bought a 2006 Ford Explorer - Eddie Bauer. I am trying to locate the 5-digit factory code for the keypad entry. I really do not want to have to take the car back to the dealer. Thanks for any clue...

The Code to your door keypad is located inside the rear storage area where your jack is stored. Its kind of hard to get to but its on the module in front of your jack on the backside on a sticker. Fold down the back seat. Open the storage compartment on the driver's side of your Explorer. Using a flashlight, look at the plastic cover hidden in the compartment above the jack. There are 5 large numbers. This is your code. It does not have a label telling you what the number is. Try it and it should work.

    God Bless and Good luck!

Where is the jack and tools for spare tire?

    CHANGING A FLAT TIRE
    Jack Location
In the Durango, the scissor jack and tire changing tools
are stowed under the second row seat.
The jack is secured in place with a winged stud and a
fixed stud. It is very important to secure the jack tightly
in place by engaging the slot in the base to the fixed stud
under the middle seat. The winged stud inserts through
the eyelet in the end of the jack’s worm screw.

How do i get the spare tire to come down

If the spare tire does not lower to the ground, the secondary latch is engaged
causing the tire not to lower Your vehicle has an underbody-mounted tire hoist
assembly equipped with a secondary latch system. It is designed to stop the spare
tire from suddenly falling off your vehicle if the cable holding the spare tire
is damaged. For the secondary latch to work, the tire must be stored with the
    valve stem pointing up.
1.Check under the vehicle to see if the cable is visible. If it is not visible
    proceed to Step 6.
2.If visible, first try to tighten the cable by turning the wheel wrench clockwise
until you hear two clicks or feel it skip twice. You cannot overtighten the cable.
3.Loosen the cable by turning the wheel wrench counterclockwise three or four turns.
4.Repeat this procedure at least two times. If the spare tire lowers to the ground
continue with Step 2 of removing the Spare.
5.Turn the wrench counterclockwise until approximately 6 inches (15 cm) of cable is
    exposed.
6.Attach the jack handle, extension and the wheel wrench to the jack and place it under
the vehicle towards the front of the rear bumper.Position the center lift point of the
jack under the center of the spare tire.
7.Turn the wrench clockwise to raise the jack until it lifts the end fitting.
8.Continue raising the jack until the spare tire stops moving upward and is held firmly
    in place.
9.Lower the jack by turning the wheel wrench counterclockwise.Keep lowering the jack
until the spare tire slides off the jack or is hanging by the cable.
10.Disconnect the jack handle from the jack and carefully remove the jack.Use one hand
to push against the spare while firmly pulling the jack out from under the spare tire
    with the other hand.

    1996 Corvette

normally a spare will not fit in the storage area of the corvette. most came with run-flat tires. it is also possible that the car came with a small compressor and some sort or liquid stop leak (ie tireslime) My best advice is to contact a local corvette club or dealer. they can tell you exactly what your vehicle is equipped with.
