Re: how to remove inner window crank on 2006 chev cobalt...
The handle part of the crank is held on by a small ring, you will need a small flat head screw driver- i used a butter knife, as it works better- push the door panel back just enough you can see behind the round part of the handle, you should be able to see the foot of the clip, push it off, make sure you don't do this in the grass, the ring will roll when it falls off. **please note this is a flat ring and only about the diameter of your little finger**
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

screws in the armrest, clip on window crank, screw behind door handle and possible a screw behind a plug that is located to the inner or outer pane, then with a flat tip screwdriver gently pry around the outside of the panel then lift panel up and out. Good Luck Tim

YOU HAVE TO REMOVE 2 SCREWS HOLDING DOOR PULL CUP.YOU HAVE RELEASE CLIP BEHIND DOOR HANDLE USING TRIM TOOL.IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE GETTING DOOR PANEL OFF.HAYNES REPAIR MANUAL CAN HELP.
Not too bad a job to do, taking your time it should take 30-45 minutes. You will need a straight screwdriver, phillips screwdriver, a small set of sockets, a clip removal tool also comes in handy.
If you have manual windows, you will need to remove the clip holding the window crank in place. Usually the clip removal tool makes easy work of it by just pushing the clip out from under the window crank handle. If you have electric windows so much the better.
Roll down the window before beginning. Now depending on how Detroit was hiding things, you should look in the area of the door pull for screws that fasten the interior door covering to the door. These might be exposed but sometimes are hidden under plastic caps or trim parts. Very carefully remove this pieces as with age they do become brittle.
Once you are rather sure you have the fastening screws out of the way, using the straight screwdriver to ease the door panel away from the door along the bottom edge. By looking inside you should see one of two methods of fasteners. The older style are simply straight push in plastic clips, you release these by simply putting enough pressure of the panel to pull the clips out. The newer method has a clip that slides down about a 1/2 inch into a matching hole. These panels are removed by lifting up on the door panel and then out.
With the panel off, you can now remove and replace the inner door handle, not much to them usually a couple of clips holding the connecting rod(s) and 3-4 bolts.
Installation is just a reversal of the removal procedure.

Hope helped with this; remember rated this help. Good luck.
You first have to remove the inner door panel by taking the screws out of the inner handle and arm rest. the outer edges of the inner door panel either has screws or it has clips that can be pulled out. after you remove the panel you need to roll up the window and you will be looking at the back of the handle. simply un hook the clips that hold the lockrod and the inner opener rod and unbolt the outside door handle. reverse the prosses and walla.
they make a tool V-shaped that should be used for prying around the door panel..door airbags should not be triggered unless wiring for them is shorted, replacing speakers should not mess up any other wiring , fuses should be fine as are..
