Normally, a fast isle indicates an air (vacuum) leak in the intake manifold area. Check all hoses for cracks or having come off. You can make a soapy water solution and put it in a spray bottle and spray the water on the hoses and connections as well as the throttle body mating points and the intake manifold to cylinder head connection. Anywhere there is a leak you will hear a momentary change in idle speed as the water seals up the leak for a moment or two.

I have a check engine light on my 2002 diamante so I'm trying to find the diagnostic port and I've had no luck. Please help!

I believe there's a standard location. When you are sitting in the driver's seat, it should be to your left, near the door, and right under the dash. The plugs look a little bit like the main port in a desktop computer.

I really hope this helps you locate your port.

I have a 1997 Diamante has the same symptoms after the battery went flat. The automatic transmission serviceman said it was the computer controlling the transmission loosing it's program and had to re-train itself. He said there was a procedure for defaulting the computer but is was easier just to drive the car and it would fix itself.
My experience after owning the car for a number of years and several flat batteries is it fixes itself after about 1000 kilometers
