Question about 2000 Toyota 4Runner
I have an issue with a 2000 Toyota 4Runner, SR5 4WD.... justrecently replaced the timing belt and got a 90K service. The problemhappens after a complete stop, the engine would stall while the car isstopped and stationary. I tried replacing the idle control valve andthe ECT sensor... but the problem is still happening (just two daysafter replacing the ECT sensor!)
You recommended replacing the EGR valve for a similar issue with a 1999 4runner. May I ask if you've seen this issue before and if the EGR valve replacement was a good solution?
Your help is greatly appreciated, as this is our family car and I'm getting nervous on how safe it is.
On Toyota 3.4 liter V6,there is small vacuum switch call vacuum switching valve (VSV) that may be disconnected air tubes, electrical connector or malfunction.
I will spend one hour to look over the engine from top to bottom to check for bad connections and disconnected vacuum / air tubes.
Are you getting any additional OBD-II code(s)?
Please post it on the comment window.

check with your local Toyota dealer in the parts department and make sure you give them the liter of both engines and they can give you the correct answer and you can also try autozone.com to see if they have your car listed for diagrams pictures and step by step instructions if your car is not listed then try your local library they have all the car manuals and even copy them for you

The V6's were known for blowing head gaskets. One of your engine cylinders is blowing hot air into the cooling system which of course then overheats the engine. I had the same problem and spent hundreds of dollars on a new water pump only to have the same overheating issue. I bought a $10 can of head / block sealer and followed the directions. Saved myself thousands of dollars in new head gasket repairs. The block sealer worked. No more overheating. Problem solved.

THE AIR FLOW METER IS LOCATED BESIDE THE AIR FILTER HOUSING.
IF YOU ARE GET IT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR RICH OR LEAN FUEL MIXTURE THE AIR FLOW METER IS THE MOST LIKLY AT FAULT.
AIR /FUEL RATIO SENSORS ARE THE SENSORS BEFORE THE CAT IN MOST NEWER CARS
I DON'T THINK THAT YEAR USES A TRUE A/F SENSOR BUT RATHER A O2 SENSOR.
