What make and model car ? P0172 OBD II Trouble Code could be running so rich that it fouled the sparks . Pull out the spark plugs and see if there are wet with fuel and black, means that they are fouled out. Have to be cleaned or replaced . I don't know the make of vehicle , so I can only give approximation what mite have caused this , a fuel pressure regulator with a ruptured diaphragm leaking fuel into the intake manifold, leaking fuel injectors P0172 System Too Rich Bank 1
That indicate that the system is running too rich for some reason that has to be determined. Pull the vacuum line off the pressure regulator to see if there is any fuel in the line to indicate a bad regulator.
Correct, code 172 is fuel system too rich bank one. This means the computer is trying to cut back on the fuel going thru the injectors and according to the O2 sensor it is still rich. Could be a faulty sensor, or a leaking injector, or fuel pressure regulator.
