My 2001 Ford Explorer sport won’t start without a bit of coercion from the gas pedal and would really like to fix the problem myself. i Just need to know before go and buy an OBD II reader
Actually...since you can't figure out the
problem yourself based on the symptoms a reader probably isn't going to help
you. Readers give you diagnostic codes but don't tell you how to fix the
problem so you need some mechanical inclination to take the code your getting with
the symptoms you have and figure out the solution. Your problem is a gas delivery problem
which can mean a couple of things but is most likely a problem either with the
fuel pump or the fuel filter. If you want to buy a obd code reader, then
here is a better reader now I using :
I think you have a defective fuel pump pressure check valve here. If you don't have a check engine light on you will not have any codes.

its ignition primary coil #1 the car goes bad if you whant to get ride of the code you have to change the coil pack sometime with that you can have a misfire on different cylinder thanks pierre

More then likely its the Canister Purge Solenoid. you can find it online at www.autozone.com the part number is PV140. And to replace it on blazer you have to remove the spare tire. Alot of people don't know where this part is so I hope this helps you and good luck.

Looked up your OBD II code for your Explorer and got the following: Bank 1 Sensor 1
The possible causes are listed below per Chilton: *same result for all engines available on your vehicle
Trouble Code: P0141 (4.0L V6 VIN E Auto)
HO2S-11 Heater Circuit (Bank 1, Sensor 1)
Print this code data
Number of Trips to Set Code: 2
OBD II Monitor Type: CCM Details
Indicators: MIL Details
Trouble Code Conditions:
During testing the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) heaters are checked for open and short circuits and excessive current draw. The test fails when the current draw exceeds a calibrated limit or an open or short circuit is detected.
Possible Causes:
The sensors themselves appear in the illustration linked to below. The illustration is for the Ford Ranger but indications are that other models have similar locations. Hope this helps with your problem. Best of luck!

Either the fuel cap, or the evap solenoid on the charcoal canister. I'd start with the fuel cap.

In 1995 they made different systems. If it has OBD, then it should be the conventional 16 pin connector, found underneath the drivers steering wheel area. If its the older type, then it has a 2 pin black connector under the center console area. Hope that helps
