I have a pontiac grand prix 2002 when I accelerate above 40mph there is a vibration. When I remove foot from gas the vibration stops.

a problem axle will vibrate worse the faster you go but the vibration will be there up or down so for the moment I will set that aside.
if it is vibrating during acceleration but stops when the accelerator is released, it indicates and engine /transmission management problem
first I would run the fault codes as the problem could be from a faulty cam position sensor
servo/solenoid that has the cam too far advanced for the engine rpms and power setting
next it could be a problem with injector control or fuel flow/ pressure
have the fuel pressure tested at rpms to ensure that the pressure regulator is operational
what you describe occurs from misfiring or the like so go to an accredited service center for a proper diagnosis and quote
back to the axle --it could be a problem wheel bearing failing or needing adjustment so keep that in the back of your mind if nothing shows up in the fault codes or diagnosis from a shop with experience

Is the lifters in a 2004 pontiac grand prix 3800 adjustable,it has a very loud pek,and has a very bad miss to it

some times the lifters get damaged or worn causing a leak down . do a compression test to check for a burnt valve. also check for broken valve springs.

My tach floats while under load 2003 grand prix what would cause this?

sounds like a tcc issue in the transmission. some times it can be fixed with an ecm flash. often it is a bad tcc solenoid inside the trans. valve body.

When i accelerate my motor clatters. it doesn't

A clattering sound could be a knock sensor. They are made to tell you there is a problem with the engine or it could just need to be replaced. If you dont have any fault codes or loss of power you might just need a new one but start at the simple spots first. Check the serpentine belt and make sure its on tight check your intake manifold and exhaust manifold for leaks and make sure the sound your hearing is not a bad lifter or rod. You can remove the valve cover and visually inspect most small cars. Check all of your fluid levels because if your low on oil it will cause this aswell

I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant with rough idle and no power when accelerating. Replaced spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, spark plug wires, MAF, both oxygen sensors, air filter and the engine still...

I am having the same issue on Mitsubishi Galant 02. Clattering on acceleration, herky jerky idle. Pulled a code multiple cylinder misfire. My mechanic's diagnosis is bad valve cover gasket causing oil to seap into the spark plugs and bad timing belt, which I have not replaced at 150k miles. I do however know my fuel injectors do need cleaning, he hasn't ruled that out either. Have you pulled any code on it? I have read on engine knock sensor going out on some of these also. Hope this helps some.

When the rpm gauge hits 2 and above on my 1995 grand prix the servic e engine light soon comes on

check codes prior to diagnosis as this will help with determining problem. Common problems are bad spark plug wires/ cap and rotor if equipped. The computer will store a code for a miss condition for the bad cylinder. Another known problem is the e.g.r. valve/control solenoid. Pulling codes will prove this out.

Jeep starts,clatters, then dies

If you had a blown head gasket you should have water/coolant all over or in your oil. Check your throttle positioning sensor according to specs in your haynes manual. My 02 jeep grand cherokee was chattering while I was driving and ended up dying on the highway and I coasted into this town and luckly an auto parts store was right there. I tested it and it cost me 70 dollars.
