Fuel pump? I had a new fuel pump put in two yrs.ago.Yesterday,truck was running fine. I went to start it and it ran for about 5 sec. and shut down. Turned the key and would'nt start, just turned over. Had it towed and they said it was the pump, bought a new pump and they installed it. truck ran well. whent to work to day and the same thing happened ,started for about 5 sec. and quit. just kept turning over. While waiting for tow truck about 2hrs. later, I tried it & it started, when to drive it to mechanic and it stalled twice, each time it restarted. It has never stalled. Is there a connection problem or can the new pump be bad?? I pd. $625.00 and need a soulution. help me,Please.

You need to see if your mechanic replaced the wiring pigtail to the pump. The pigtail on those have a habit of shorting out. If the pigtail is in good condition, check the ground wire. Rust likes to make the ground loose connection.

This is almost for sure a connection problem, check the relay for the fuel pump.

I have a 2002 ford explorer sport trac. My truck ran fine yesterday but this morning I went to start it & it started ran for about 5 seconds then died I did this 4 or 5 times then my son noticed some...

Check your fuel pressure, there are Relays to check. Sometimes the pump is so weak that it delivers enough to start the engine and can not keep up. It is also built to shut down the fuel if the engine dies.

When you turn the key, you should hear the fuel pump run. As for the smoke, with the automatic shut-offs occurring, there is moisture and incomplete combustion gases leaving the tailpipe.

95 honda accord turns over but wont start

Sometimes when a fuel filter is stopped up,and you change it,the fuel pump later, will go out, cause of the strain on the pump.

Have a 1999 dodge ram2500 diesel. been running fine. parked for about a week (have had temps in the low 20's). started and ran for about 5-10 sec (rough). now will only crank and not start. Replaced lift...

the best advice i can give you is bring it into a warm garage and let it heat up, then treat your fuel with anti gel solution run it through your injectors by running engine and this should not happen again, seems like your lines are gelled up and you don't have proper pressure.

I have a 93 altima that will crank but will not start...about a couple months ago i went to my work and shut off my car. it was running fine when i shut it off.. when i came back out and started my car...

this year model is notorious for fuel related probs...check the remainder of the fuel system, injectors, and the fuel pressure regulator also verify that the fuel pump is actually running and getting the correct amount of power to the pump itself..... it may not be bad just not getting enough power
