Question about 1995 Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

1991 nissan maxima/ only occasionally during cold will not start

This car runs great. One mechanic replaced the fuel pump. the car sounds as though it wants to start ok, it just does not turn over, as though there is not fuel getting through. this seems to only happen when it rains, or is cold and foggy. We live at the beach in San Diego, Ca. We just took this car on a road trip up to San Francisco and did not have a bit of trouble, but it was hot that week.
Oh, and there is a cold sensor $15 part that my husband put on and that did not fix the problem.

If it happens only when it rains it means that water or moisture is getting under the distributor. The distributor needs to be replaced. Good Luck. Let me know how it turns out.

Best guess is O2 sensor is reading too much unburned fue in the exhaust for some reason and leaning out the fuel flow to compensate. Runs when you throw more throttle at it but leans out as you try to hold steady speed. Should throw a code though.

2007 nissan maxima won't start until it gets colder.

-It could be injector's relay. Fuel pump relay. (It works when still cold
but not work when it's hot or warm)

I have a 1991 nissan maxima,i tried to start the car for work today and it would not start,it cranks but it wont start it has 3/4 of a tank of gas, what could be the problem?

Have the fuel pressure tested, the pump is electric and more than likely has stopped working, it is located inside the fuel tank

Stalls when excellerating

i would do a few things here, simply spend $8 on some injector cleaner to break down carbon deposits, then try replacing the fuel filter, lastly, get the timing checked, plug gaps {new plugs} clean oxygen sensor in exhaust then lastly get the fuel pump pressure checked at a mechanics, all in that order untill it works, Good luck

NISSAN MAXIMA GLE WONT START

To really give you the "right" answer I am going to need a little more information from you.

Did the car run when you gave him the car?
Why was the mechanic changing the fuel pump?

If the car ran when you gave him the car and then after he changed the fuel pump it wouldn't start I would have to say it has something to do with his removal and installation. Or the actual fuel pump itself. Was he installing a brand new or used pump?

He must not have gotten the wires back on the sender or in the wrong order causing the "new" fuel pump to not work thereby making your car not start.

Or atleast something along those lines. Like I said without a little more background I can't give you the exact answer.

Well good luck and I did my best with the information you provided.
Please feel free to give me a good rating,
Thanks and have a great day,

1991 maxima crank, putts for 6 seconds, touch accelerator it dies

1st thing to do is try cleaning the inside of the MAF sensor and having the ECT sensor tested, that controls cold enrichment, it does the same thing as a choke, sounds like you have a lean run issue. You might also consider getting the fuel injectors professionally cleaned, it can make a real difference.
