Not sure what the acual problem is, but as a rule of thumb the sensors usually work fine or they don't. One minute the car would run and then the next time you go to start it the car won't. Probably the module has given up rather the cam sensor.

2006 Ford F-250 6.0 Engine just shuts down at an idel or going down the road. it has a bad glow plug and shows a code for it . I just replaced the cam posithion sensor. Does the engine keep shuttting

I have had the same problem with my Ford mustang the only thing is that it only shuts down in high idle, after the engine temperature warms up there is no shut down. It could have something to do with the transmission or the temperature sensor the best thing to do is get a full diagnostic and not do it your self.

Can't tell you what it is without testing, but you need to check the crank position sensor and fuel pump. Both will cause it to stall and, when they cool down, it will re-start.
Easiest way to check pump is to turn the key on and listen at the tank. If you can't hear it running, it's not.

may be a bad crank sensor or on its way out. evidently when it gets hot it shuts engine down. a bad crank sensor will stop engine while driving, and will not restart for about 15 to 20 minutes later. it will keep repeating this until it is fixed. usually it sets a problem code. but other sensors have gone bad and no codes or light is not on.

We were driving down the road at 55 and it just quit running. We had lights radio ect but it would not turn back over. What should I look for?

have vehicle scanned to find problem code. if no scanner, go to any auto parts store and they will scan for free. it could be a bad cam or crank sensor. have it scanned. if a bad crank sensor it will shut off when warm going down highway. it goes in to limp mode, and will not send the pcm the correct info.

Cmp And Ckp are your cam and crank sensors. Basically whats going on is one of those sensors are malfunctioning causing the system to adjust its resources. ie the pcm guesses how fast the cam or crank is turning and adjust timing as nessessary. Pull the crank sensor and inspect for damage. do the same for cam. You may need a book for there locations. Also using a test meter, check there output signals for correct voltage. This should point you in the right direction. Hope it helps.

Dodge 1996 caravan/engine starts then abruptly shuts off

I would check the iac(idle air control valve) first it controls the idle, and then if it is still acting up you may have to change the crank/cam position sensor
