Try replacing the coolant temp sensor on the water pump. It cost about 20 bucks and takes less than a 60 seconds to fix it. When it goes bad, the computer thinks the car is warmed up and needs no extra boost to the injectors.

It sounds like the check valve inside the fuel pump is bad. common on cheap or after market pumps. use a fuel pressure gauge and see if your fuel press drops back to zero. after the car is turned off. if the check valve is bad the fuel will leak back into the tank over a period of time. is the car hard to start all the time. or mainly after sitting a little while. if so this is your problem. good luck .

Hard starting,spark plugs,wires ok. Runs ok. 3.8 v6 1995 Camaro 179,000 miles.

Check the primary and secondary resistance of your coil. Coils can fault out when too hot and also take some time to heat up.

With the key ON engine OFF K.O.E.O. (cycle the key ON-OFF several times as pump only runs for 2 seconds) the pressure should be 41-47 PSI

Hard start

Hi teabag,

I too, once owned a '95 z28, fun car to drive, anyway HO chevy small blocks w/EFI are notorious for being beasts on a cold start. Try this when you get ready to start the car turn the ignition on but don't start let it set there a few seconds you should hear the fuel pumping waking up. Now instead of holding the key and letting it crank and crank, just hit enough to let the engine fire. Not only will lengthen the life of your starter it will lengthen the life of the fuel pump.
