Change out the Duraspark module, they are very cheap and that is the usual suspect.

My ed 4.0 falcon wont start. Im going to buy a 5.0 commodore tomorrow do you think this will solve the problem????

Crank sensor to module to coil pack to plugs. There may be a failing component. I would check Crank Sensor first. If you are getting spark to all cylinders, then rule out coil packs, if only spark to one or two cylinders, then replace faulty pack.

My ed falcon is backfiring and gagilling on start up with accerator flat have had dizzy out and am having timing issues now. is tdc rocking on one or another cyl?

Check the ignition coil, all you need to do is pull out a spark plug and place it on the engine and turn the key if there is no spark then it is the coil. A very common problem with the Falcon

I have a 1997 passat petrol coughs and splutters on cold start u

There is a cold start valve on the throttle body, may just need a clean.Check for damp in the ht leads and use wd40 or another lube to dispell moisture.Check your vacuum hoses for splits as at that age they will have cracks and leaks not visible even after removing.Have you ever changed the petrol filter just as a precaution and what is the condition of the sparkplugs as worn one work on hot tempretures but mess around in the cold.
