Make sure all the ends on your battery cables are clean and tight. I got a tow in because my car would not try to start even tried boosting to no avail. All my lights and radio was working but they said the cable was corroded and would not let the full power work. We replaced the battery cables and worked like new now.

Maybe the main Ignition relay in your fuse box or on the firewall. Faulty relay can cause intermittent no-power situations.

SOURCE: Truck losing power and service engine soon light on

Like to other guy said, give it a tuneup. Also try SEAFOAM to clean carb up of slug. Also check to make sure the butter fly for the choke has not come loose, causing it the choke it down. Failed choke pull-off.

SOURCE: 1995 gmc sonoma ignition key worn out

You have to remove the stering colum covers and in the ingnition key drum on the side there is a little hole, press the inside pin and pull the key ccylinder out, you can buy on autozone or pep boys.

SOURCE: '95 GMC Sonoma ran

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Two things to look at. Starter and ignition coil. If one of this is faulty there will be no current to burn fuel. I strongly suggest that you replace it resolve the issue.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Have a 1995 GMC Sonoma and was driving one day and overheated the truck died and will not start now what could it be! It will start by pulling the truck and popping clutch

Why did it overheat, did you fix the overheating? Are you saying it cranks good but won't start? If it cranks good but won't start, check fuel--spark--compression. Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. If the battery is down, we can't do any testing. At the starter motor motor, two voltage circuits, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other voltage circuit goes hot with key in the crank position is wired through clutch switch. The starter motor grounds through engine block. Any testing at starter make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. You can have the starter motor tested.

I have a 1993 gmc sonoma, put a new ecm in it but it willn't tern over, lights will com on tho an if i cros the starter the plugs wont fiyer

The problem is in the start circuit if the starter won't engage from the key. From battery to ignition switch to neutral park safety switch to starter relay to starter solenoid to starter to ground and back to battery-lights come on so switch is good, next check the neutral safety switch for power in and power out.
Once you get the start circuit working so starter engages from the key, then you can address the ignition circuit for possible no spark.

Truck won't start

Sounds like you have several problems.
If the engine will not crank, do you have power on the purple wire on the small starter terminal when the key switch is in the start position ?
