Question about 2007 Mazda MX6

4 Answers

My 1994 Mazda MX6 has recently cut out and stops for no apparent reason. Sometimes it starts again almost immediately, at other times it will not start for at least 30 minutes. It is serviced regularly and this intermittant fault is extremely worrying as the engine has cut out in very busy traffic on three occasions recently. Can you help?

More likely than not the distributor has failed, I have rebuilt and replaced LOTS of them on MX-6's. bits are expensive but there are a few websites that list the bits to rebuild it for a fair price, chances are it will fail completely eventually

I had that problem as well and it was the fuel pump. Hope this helps.

Cutting out when first starting until warm

Fuel mixture adjustment not correct, gas filter may need change, also check all wires to spark plugs and distributor or secure and tight .! Reason why it takes time to start again it is flooded with excessive fuel that is why im thinking more on adjustment of fuel mixture and check timing !Hook up a code reader it see what pops up im sure you will get the readout and code and go from there

Mazda MX6 - Car rolling but not running.

Someone told me it was probably the distributor, hence, I replaced it and the car is now working real fine.

I had a similar problem when I had my car boosted when I left my lights on. Even though I had turned my lights off the chime alerting me my lights were on would continue to chime even with the lights off AND the car turned off. I was concerned it would drain my battery again, so I took it to Mazda and they just unhooked the power to that chime. It stopped it from beeping all the time, but now I have to remember to turn the lights off.

Note... there are actually 2 chimes that I know of. I was quite surprised one day to hear the chime again - then I realized it was because my keys were in the ignition.
