My Lincoln continental starts cold fine but when it gets hot or normal running temp it starts to loose power and feels like the tranny is slipping. When I turn it of and start it back up I have to give it...

SOUND LIKE YOU HAVE A TEMPERATURE PROBLEM, HOOK UP SCANNER AND CHE THE TEMPERATURE ON THE ENGINE, DOES IT GET HOT QUICK, LIKE A CLOSE THERMOSTAT, IS IT LOW ON FLUID, DOES THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR READ OVER 200 WHEN WORM, DO YOU SEE THE TEMPERATURE GO BACK DOWN TO 15 OR LESS, ES TEMPERATURE GOES UP, LESS AND LESS GAS GOES INTO THE ENGINE IS INJECTOR SENS LESS AND LESS FUEL, THE TEMP SHOULD BE 180 TO 210 OVER THIS MEANS THE THERMOSTAT IS CLOSED OR THE WATER PUMP IS NOT CIRCULATING ANY COOLANT, BELOW 180 MEANS THE THERMOSTAT IS ALWAYS OPEN.

Check eng light come on and car start cutting off at stop light.run code mis fire mass air flow sen coolant temp

wow well it sounds like you have a few things to worry about! Which ever misfire cylinder it is reading go ahead and replace the spark plugs first, if that's not it replace the wires and the distributor. The mass air flow code is what regulates the air coming in to your engine. This will prevent your car from breathing really so it is a must to change it. Coolant temp code could be lack of coolant in the radiator, the thermostat might need to be changed, or the water pump may need to be changed. I would do the cheapest first and work your way up! Hope this helps you out!

My van will not start when the temp is very cold. i have replaced the oxygen sens. the coolant temp sens. and the camshaft sens in the past year but it still doesnt start when it gets below 10 degrees. why...

your battery too weak.engine oil viscosity to heavy or thick.water could be in fuel.bad ignition components like plugs + wires rotor and cap if your van has distributor. if you have a 3.3L engine it dont have distributor. stop up fuel filter.leaking fuel injectors .

Hi,
It was something that takes a lot of time and money to diagnose.Emissions requires the truck to have an EGR valve (exhaust gas recycle) and this deposits gunk (carbon residue) on your MAF (mass air flow sensor) If you catch it in time you can use a carbon cleaner from Autozone or checker Lightly on the MassAirFlow sensor. If not in time you may have to have either the MAF or EGR valve replaced and these are expensive. After a long period of time being undetected eventually the EGR valve will start smelling like sulfer, this means its to late to clean and save.

Thanks for contacting Fixya.

Run the car with the radiator cap off. Make sure the radiator is topped off with coolant or water will do just fine. While the car is running look in the radiator neck and check if there are bubbles coming out.
Maybe bad head gasket.
