I use a 1/4" drive 10mm long socket and insert it through the openings on the pulley and turn the pulley to acess all the three or four bolts and the pump should be out but removal of the p/s belt will make it even easier!!

I need to replace a power steering pump on a 1992 Olds Cutlass Ciera. How does one tackle that problem?

First you will need a pulley remover/installer. Remove the power steering belt, remove bolts holding the pump, remove p/s lines, replace in reverse order,and fill pump. Start car and move steering wheel back and forth slightly, then turn the wheel all the way stop to stop Always watch that there is plenty of fluid in the reservoir. Check with dip stick, should be full to bottom mark;

Could you please tell me how many hours it would take for a mechanic to remove & replace a V6 engine (1996 olds cutlass ciera 3.1 v6). Thank you.

I found 2 different book times using Mitchell times (what most shops go by) and came up with anywhere from 8.4 hours to 14.3 hours depending on what options you have and what will interfere with taking it out, such as power steering, air pump or air conditioning.

Power steering reservoir has a bad leak. How do I

I think but please dont quote me on this, there is a easy fix for the resivoir leaking from between the pump and the resivoir. you can remove the powersteering by removing the serpentine belt and then turn the pully to line up the 3 bolt that secure the p/s pump. removed the resivoir by removing the clips, replace the seal ("O") ring for the resivoir and reassemble, reinstall and then retest, Hope this helps

Water pump removal (cant get power steering pump out)

To access and remove the waterpump, the powersteer bracket has to be removed completely. To do this, the rear camshaft drive pulley must be removed (need a tool to hold pulley, bolt tight) and then the thin sheetmetal shield behind the pulley. This allows access to the lower powersteer bracket bolts.
Removal of the engine mount is also required to perform timing belt replacement. It also helps to increase your access room too.
I would recommend you replace the waterpump why you are there as they have a tendancy to fail at around 140000 km's.

Cannot remove the pulley from my 1991 olds cutlass ciera 's water pump. Its a 4cyl. Plus the new water pump doesn't look quite the same.

I replaced my water pump on my 92 olds, and the pulley will look slightly different because it's newer, but just make sure its the right one. The pulley does not come off of the water pump, both the water pump and pulley have to be changed. Your new one should come with both the pump and pulley already connected

Where is the cam sensor located on a 1994 olds cutlass cerias

with a 3.1 liter , remove and install directions are remove serpentine belt , remove power steering pump assembly , then remove sensor harness , sensor bolt , remove sensor , so it sounds like behind the power steering pump assembly area if that makes sense . it has to be real close the the cam gear , you should be able to find it .

Blower motor removal 1993 olds ciera 3.3

i worked for olds when that car was new. had alot of those motors go bad. you need to remove the p/s pump to do it by yourself-BUT you can remove the engine struts(mounts) and have a buddy(you trust) start the car and out it into reverse, now have him give it some gas so the engine rocks forward so you can remove/replace the motor/fan assy. - like that?
good luck

Replace water pump

First you must drain the coolant. Remove powersteering pump[keep hoses connected)this is just to make room for water pump removal so just sit it off to he side.Loosen the the water pump pulley mounting bolts, remove the drivebelt, remove the pump pulley. Remove the pump mounting bolts and pul the pump from engine.Install every thing in reverse ,but be sure to clean the mating surface of old sealer and gasket first, also be sure to use RTV gasket sealer on engine side of the new gasket.Be sure not to over/under tighten the bolts the torque specs. are 22 to 29 for the long bolts and 96 to132 for short bolts and 108 to 132 ft lb for the pulley bolts.
