2005 Cayenne 4.5S has trouble starting after filling up with gas
I have an intermittent problem that once I have filled up the engine will not fire up. It sometimes feels like a flat battery but I have a had a new battery fitted. Could be fuel pump or ignition coil?

If your talking about filling gas and motor cranck and is long at starting ,needs 2 or three trys , then you need to replace your engines tank vent valve in engine compartment on motor ,solenoid valve comes with plastic pipe, , note local porsche shop may even see stored fault in system and no check engine light on .

When you fill the car with gas if you dont stop when it is full and you continue to make the tank take more, you dont leave any room for expansion. The fuel expands and can cause orings to fail when it gets warm. If you have trouble filling the tank because of the issue that you stated, the problem might be due to a collapsed filler hose. If you are running the engine when you fill it, the noise is from the fuel return line.
As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you replace the automatic transmission fluid. If the fluid is burnt, shifting problem may occur. One good reason why it has unusual vibrations.

maybe fuel pump starting to go its just a sugestion is there any check engine lights on how long before car starts back up or did it start back up if so how does it run once started back up did you run the car almost out of gas before you filled it up
if u had the engine runnig while u filled the tank? if so u have triggered the evaporativeemissions system to set a code and turn on the check engine light, go to Kragen and have them run the trouble code test, then ask if they could clear the code for u, it is free..
Sounds like you have a bad vent valve in the gas tank. When you fill the tank gas also fills the emission vapor canister. When you try to start it, the gas is pulled through the canister purge solenoid, flooding the engine. To test this, unplug the canister purge solenoid and see if the problem stops.
I have a 2005 Hyundai Accent, It is not possible to fill the tank if you are letting the petrol pump run at full speed.Trying to fill up quickly it will only build up pressure and cut off. Next time you fill up just pull the petrol pump handle half way, it will take longer to fill but you wont get the blow back. Modern petrol pumps are getting quicker all the time.Hope this helps you.
