I have the same problem. I've installed an alarm with it's own immobiliser (a far superior one) and wish to disable the now redundant immobiliser on my toyota 98 corolla conquest hatch.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The reason for my asking as to "why"...are you attempting to install a remote starter?

To properly answer your question, it is IMPOSSIBLE to "disable" the system.

There are "ways around it", however...

There is no reprogramming possible...Please advise of why you need it disabled.

You cant, without a good bit of effort. you would have to reprogram the body ECM and engine ECM as it is tied into both

Personally I'd love it if it were possible to remove my immobilizer system on my Toyota Corolla 2003. In my case doing the code to start the car (press the mirror button, then flick the high beams twice disengages the system) well it doesn't work all the time. It's become finicky and sometimes only works on the 8th try. Till this morning the car just wouldn't start after 20 tries.

So ya, is there a way to disconnect this?

Vw beetle does not start. seems like its some kind of anti theft protection. the car/key icon lights up, it turns over for a second , then off. this is the first time this has happened, but we bought it...

First of all you need to programm all ignition keys using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com) connected to the data link connector of the car.

You have an electronic immobilizer key recognition problem. Now your key chip is not recognized by the transponder antenna fitted on the ignition switch barrel.

  • Everytime when you had a new key you must programm all available ignition car keys before trying to start the engine with this new key !!!

This warning lamp indicates that the engine is locked by the immobilizer system, and the engine start sequence must be repeat again.

From year 1995 in Audi-VW (VAG) cars is used engine immobilizer. The VAG group immobilizer system consists of an immobilizer ECU which controls the recognition of keys and the Engine Management ECU system. Immobilizer is activated when the ignition key is removed and, together with the engine control unit, largely prevents unauthorized starting of the engine. The system uses a transmitter and receiver unit in the ignition key (transponder). Whenever an attempt is made to start the engine, it transmits a new code to the car's electronics. The immobilizing is only cancelled and car motor electronic receives permission to start engine if the key sends a right authorization code.

How can i disable the immobiliser on my fto. The key fob has broken and it wont let me start the engine :-(

Is the alarm / immobilizer factory or aftermarket? If it's aftermarket you will either have to purchase and program a new key fob or completely remove the system and reconnect which ever cuts were made in the wiring.

I had a new key cut for my 2004 accord and replaced the keyless entry pad. The car will not start...does the pad need reprogramed to start the car

If you car has the immobilizer system, the following might help.

The Immobilizer System protects your car from theft. A properly coded ignition key must be used in the ignition switch for the engine to start. If an improperly-coded key (or other device) is used, the engine’s fuel system is disabled.
When you turn the ignition switch to ON (II), the Immobilizer System indicator should come on for a few seconds, then go out. If the indicator starts to blink, it means the system does not recognize the coding of the key.
Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), remove the key, reinsert it, and turn the switch to ON (II) again.

Hope this is helpful to you.

    The key symbol appears

    That's your immobilizer system light:
The Immobilizer System protects your car from theft. A properly coded master or valet key must be used in the ignition switch for the engine to start.
If an improperly coded key (or other device) is used, the engine’s fuel system is disabled.
The system may not recognize your key’s coding if another immobilizer key or other metal object is near the ignition switch when you insert the key. To make sure the system recognizes the key code:
Do not keep other immobilizer keys on the same key ring.
Use a plastic or leather key fob, not metal.
Keep other keys away from your vehicle’s key and the ignition switch while trying to start the engine.
Do not attempt to alter this system or add other devices to it. Electrical problems could result that may make your car undriveable.
This indicator will also blink several times when you turn the ignition switch from ON (II) to ACCESSORY (I) or LOCK (0).
If the system repeatedly does not recognize the coding of your key, contact your Honda dealer.
If you have lost your key and you cannot start the engine, contact your Honda dealer.
Hope this lets you understand the light, and what should be happening.
