Aftermarket alarm system?? If so it could be anything with that alarm. If it's the factory security system, this is totally normal. When you disconnect the battery and reconnect it, the system resets and automatically "panics" because it saw the power failure. If it's the factory system, simply have the key fob handy to turn it off after you connect the battery. If you don't have a remote fob, just put the key in the driver's door and unlock it. This will override and shut off the system.
Hi, If your alarm is going off while you are reading this. And you have your wireless remote control in your hand. If my memory serves me correctly, there should be a narrow or skinny button in the remote. It may be red colored Push that button. It may shut the thing off. If that doesn't work push the rest of the buttons BUT DON'T PRESS THE PANIC BUTTON. Give it a try. Hope it helps Good Luck, Mark
If you have the PRESTIGE factory alarm system, there should be a very small switch (microswitch) in the left kicker panel. If you move your feet from the brake pedal to the left, you can almost hit it.
I have a Saab 93 Vector and although my key does not have that function my manual says the following; 'Press once - Turns on exterior and cabin lighting, for 30 sec, or turns off lighting. Deactivates panic alarm. Hold and press for more than 2 sec - Cars with car alarm: panic alarm (activates alarm manually).
There is another section that says the button turns off lights and larm when activated and the car remains locked. The panic alarm can only be activated when the car is stationary and it will be silenced when the car is driven away.
Hope that makes sense. Enjoy your Saab 93 - I know I do every day.
