Bad Mass Airflow Sensor 1999 Pontiac Bonneville

The problem I have is my car cuts off when I come to a complete stop or when i begin to slow down. I took my car to an auto mechanic and was told my MAS is bad and I need to replace it. I dont have the money right now to replace it. I have done the following: purchased MAS Cleaner, and cleaned the sensor, problem still persists, I have checked the hose going from the air filter to the throttle body for holes ( there are none) I would like to unplug the electrical going to the MAS but I dont know if this would cause damage, I'm thinking if i do this maybe this will tell me if its the actual electrical plug.....HELP!....any ideas??? Please let me know if you need more info/details from me.

Bite the bullet and have it replaced $400 parts and labor - beats a new car payment...mine is getting fixed right now and I would not trust to drive it anywhere acting like it does. End up in a wreck having the car stall in traffic . . . not good!

2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi starts and immediately dies; will not run without foot constantly on gas pedal

Well pumping the pedal on a fuel injected car does nothing. If there are no trouble codes stored in the computer, look for excessive fuel from the injectors or the fuel pressure regulator. Or lack of air thru the idle air control valve.

After cars reaches a speed of 50 mph plus, and I go up a slight hill it seem like it is cutting out, I think it is a transmission problem, but I am mechanial inept, car is 1999 pontiac bonneville se, any...

if its cutting out then most liley will have nothing to do with the transmission, sonds like an air fault to me, perhaps the air mass sensor, this is the most common fault on any modern car so I would certainly take a look at that first, also ensure you have no air leaks in the pipe work as again this would also do that.

Hope that helps

Hi, i have a 1999 bmw 323i and the is not giving me the performance as usual, it wont pick up speed fast, if am going 50mh and i press the break and than press on the gas it wont respond fast at all even...

A few classic possibilities here. First your throttle body sensor may be bad. Second your mass airflow sensor may be bad. Third your fuel regulator may be on the blitz. Also, if your oxygen sensor is going bad you may feel a slow response to your acceleration. My best bet is that your mass airflow sensor is going bad. Try either the throttle position sensor or the mass air flow sensor. One of these is going bad.
